"Dallacaster" P22 MREP (Multi-Role Equipment Platform)

The Dallacaster P22 is a formidable craft developed from the Pattern-14 Dallacaster Gunship. The ship is unique, in that it is the only serving military design developed on Ganymede and not purchased from foreign contractors. The primary difference between the P14 and the P22 is the smaller fuel capacity of the P22, replaced with a flexible ventral hard-point for various utilities. The P22 is **officially** designated a "Multi-Role Equipment Platform" speaking to its ability to transport scanners, lights, buoys, and other such infrastructure. **Unofficially**, it has been used in a variety of Air-to-Ground combat roles armed with various payloads. Having retained the P14's ventral and dorsal auto-cannons as well as fixed weapons beneath the cockpit, the ship is effectively able to provide ground support once its payload has been deployed. Though rare, some P22's have been observed with large anti-materiel turrets mounted into the ventral hard-point.

The development of the Dallacaster P22 was spurred by a committee formed specifically to study the continued influx of extra-galactic debris entering Commission hyperlanes. Since it's initial observation by Directorate scientists, the phenomenon been met with continued intrigue regarding who or what could've caused a displacement on such a scale. Several P22's survey the growing debris field at any given time, often finding pieces of unidentified but clearly foreign craft. Specialized science vessels were used at first, but following an incident in which one ship was lost with all hands, the powers at be made the decision to send armed vessels for the time being. Ship losses and casualties have waned significantly following this decision. The committee continues to claim adamantly that their efforts are progressing smoothly despite criticism from the Commission Senate due to slow results.

Features? ---
-VTOL style "wings". #2 on Hotbar [1] to fold in and out. The front wings work with the Landing Struts to land on flat ground.

-Landing Struts. #3 on Hotbar [1]. Extend from the back half of the ship to land on flat ground.

-Ability to fly without Hydrogen. The ship can stay aloft but is not very maneuverable. This is just so you don't drop like a gunbrick the instant you run out of fuel.

-Can fully maneuver in space. The hydrogen thrusters are more than "boosters" in this case, and you're encouraged to take her for a spin out of atmosphere.

-Ventral Hard-point. Comes with a LG rotor head attached since that lets you put all the good stuff on it. #9 on Hotbar [1] detaches the head (good for bombs). I recommend:

*** Author's Notes ***
Imperial-style folding wings are nice, but they leave you with the need for tall hangars. This double-hinge layout lets you get the best of both worlds, eliminating *most* of the height and *most* of the width. Essentially, this is a V-22 Osprey but with the propellers replaced with silly sci-fi repulsor pads. Don't think I've seen a Sci-fi V-22 anywhere, but I'm sure it exists.
