Ravelin

Description
Ravelin is a remake of the same-titled Team Fortress Classic map and also a reverse CTF map. To win, you need to take your team’s flag (“The Device”) from the spawn area of your base to the command center of the enemy base in order to sabotage it.

I made this map because no one made it for me and I wanted to play Ravelin in TF2. Initially I didn’t even think of publishing it, but here it is. I tried to keep the original night mesa lab (probably Black Mesa) setting using TF2 2007 style and I think I did well. However this map is different from the TFC one – there are no basement generators, lasers in command centers and lifts. They don't quite fit into the TFC map remake (2fort for example) and may be confusing. I don't want to make this map too experimental and I think that Ravelin is fine without these things.

I also replaced the intel-related voicelines and models with sd_ and rd_ ones, as it would be strange to capture the enemy intelligence by delivering it to an enemy base. So instead of usual intelligence capture you have to Deliver the Device! And for me the administrator’s “The Device” sounds funny.

If you enjoyed this map, you might also like my other ones.
+Also all my maps have a .nav file inside for playing with bots (if anyone needs it).

Super nice looking, good use of the hydro aesthetic.

Scratch that, I did find a few bugs just running around looking for them. I got the coords using getpos so you can plug them into Hammer.

At the bottom side of this window brush, it has a bad face which is glowing red (only RED side) "42 -2645 -132" You can either remake the brush or Hammer could fix it for you in the error menu.

On RED side, you can stand on an invisible clip brush above the intel dropdown area "82 -3529 195"

You can shoot through the weird mound of dirt next to the top left exit of each team's base leading to middle "1117 1306 119"

The icon for a flag dropping/being picked up up uses the default briefcase texture too, while I think the Asteroid pickup has its own unique texture (I could be wrong though). And also the respawn room doesn't cover past the initial spawn point, only which I think would be confusing for most players. I know it's to do with the intel, but it's something to at least bring up.

You did a phenomenal job transforming Ravelin. It fits TF2, though I do wonder if Valve would have given it a different identity since all TFC maps borrowed from the same Half-Life theme. I think the same could be said about Quakeworld TF, it was just a matter of convenience, so it's not until TF2 where these maps were forged their own identity. But without reimagining the setting, this map is a beautiful treat to witness.

I like the minor path tweaks to remove ladders/elevators, and the simplification removing that basement generator and security system to match TF2's gameplay. My favorite addition would be the ramps in middle leading from low to highground. And bots even play decently on the map which is a bonus. Also, the only bug I found was in RED's lobby using a BLU sign texture at their one way intel exit door.

the varied routes kinda remind me of hydro. honestly, this whole map looks like it came from 2007 (in a good way). in my opinion, we need more tfc ports.
