Description
Play as Rome's beloved general, Pompey; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Pompey took up the mantle of "Magnus," or "the Great," to emulate his hero Alexander III early in his career. He extended his name to Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus after his forces praised him for his victories against the Marians, or the Roman governing body before Sulla's proper dictatorship. After chasing the old guard to the ends of the Earth (Africa), Pompey cemented his legacy as Rome's most popular general of his day. The republic during and after Sulla would even humour the young general through triumphs (military parades) and assignments to high offices expected of veteran magistrates which Pompey was not. Gradually the new Roman Republic assigned more tasks and honours until he was granted the consulship (chief magistrate position) up to three times. Though, by the time his consulship had come, an alliance he forged known as the First Triumvirate had emerged. United with generals Crassus and Julius Caesar, the three would centralise executive powers until only one remained. Unfortunately for Pompey, his rivalry with Julius Caesar ended in his demise at the hands of the Ptolemies.

  • Trait - Lex Gabinia-Manilia (Vanilla): Cannot recruit Great Generals nor Great Admirals. Begin with the only Triumphant Consul. Capturing a city grants +1 Gold in the Capital, up to +20.
  • Trait - Lex Gabinia-Manilia (Gathering Storm): Cannot recruit Great Generals nor Great Admirals. Entering a new era for the first time grants the only Triumphant Consul. Capturing a city grants +1 Gold in the Capital, up to +20.
  • Agenda - Magnus: Likes civilizations with many Great People. Dislikes civilizations with few Great People.

    LEADER GREAT PERSON: TRIUMPHANT CONSUL
  • A special type of Great Person only available to Rome when Pompey is the leader. +4 Movement when embarked and costs no Movement to embark or disembark. Military units within 2 tiles gain +2 Movement at the start of the turn and +5 Combat Strength, doubled with Exploration.

    A new Roman leader, Numa, was released. This new model uses the same DNA as Pompey. They aren't clones; I intend to make a replacement Pompey in due time.
