G2I MAT-90 Aberrator Lastank "Tarantel"

The MAT-90 is an enormous IFV designed for urban combat in a future of man-portable railguns and other extreme-penetrator light weapons. It is armored like an MBT, but its MA drives allow it to haul its immense weight with relative ease and reliability, resulting in a capable and unusually mobile platform. The main armament consists entirely of its 2-megawatt fiber laser, using a computer-controlled turret. The tracking systems are fit to allow the turret to double as an APS, effective at taking down incoming guided munitions and anti-tank projectiles. It is powered by a portable fission reactor, which is buried deep in the aft section. This region is generally an unkind target, as any penetration of the containment vessel would be followed by a meltdown and the release of large amounts of radiation into the environment. This is fortunately yet to be a major incident, as the craft's immense armor and hard defenses, along with the low likelihood of an attack being allowed from behind the vehicle, make even fatal hits unlikely to damage the reactor. The threat of radioactive cell destruction is also a potent deterrent to incoming fire in general, though the unique nature of this powerplant does make the Tarantel a statistically more likely target for less considerate attackers.
