My new version of the Messerschmitt Me-262. As always it's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica.

The old version was a very early build of mine and even after replacing the wings with more accurate ones it's not that great so when I was bored yesterday I decided to have another go. This is far from perfect but a bit closer to the original size and proportions.

The Me-262 was a fighter aircraft and fighter-bomber, and it was the world's first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft.

This version is the Me 262 A-1/U4 Pulkzerstörer (German: "Bomber Destroyer"), also known as Narwal (German: "Narwhal").
It was a prototype interceptor variant of the Me 262 initially conceptualized in 1943. It was specifically ordered by the Luftwaffe to counter Allied bombing raids, as the already heavy four 30 mm MK 103 autocannons were deemed still not enough to "efficiently" destroy a bomber. To accomplish this task, the Narwal was equipped with a large 50 mm BK 5 autocannon The Narwal underwent testing between March-April 1945. As the war in Europe came to a close, the need for a specialized bomber-hunter version of the Me 262 was deemed unnecessary as it would further drain the already dwindling resources that Germany had left, and as such the aircraft was not accepted for production. Only two prototypes were ever built but it's such a fun and bonkers concept it's hard to resist it when you already have the plane.
The 50 mm BK 5 (Bordkanone 5) autocannon has a low rate of fire at about 1.5 rounds per second, and in reality the plane only carried 32 rounds.

CONTROLS
Alt controls to fly
W/S: Variable throttle.
A/D: Yaw / Ground steering.
Up/Down arrows / Mouse: Pitch.
Left/Right arrows / Mouse: Roll.
X / Disable Steering: Landing gear.
Fire action 1 / Num 1: Fire cannon.

Notes
- Since the current "dynamic" aerodynamics in the game is like it is (read utter sh*t) flying this thing occasionally feels like falling down (or up) stairs since especially pitch gets so jerky due to the different levels of lift generated, and under 300kph this thing is very hard to control since there is basically no lift or control surface output so be careful when landing.
- Since this was only ever a prototype I was a bit creative with the paint job. :)

Have fun!
