BB-17 Balaigen

"Baron hull number BB-17 was a heavily modified Baron class ship created from the base of a standard Baron. Given several modifications with an emphasis on increasing firepower the vessel now dubbed a "super baron" was by far the most heavily armed Baron ever built. Swapping the standard Baron railgun array barrel for a larger experimental Marksman Barrel the super baron carried an additional 7 railguns compared to its standard counterpart. However the Marksman Barrel also increased the weight making the Super Baron slower and less maneuverable. To compensate the hull was lengthened to include more thrusters and fuel for them. Using the extra external hull space all main turrets on the Super Baron were upgraded to mk2 Shock Cannons and 2 extra turrets were added on the sides. An additional Gatling was mounted near the airlock as well. The crew was also increased to 3 persons in order to more efficiently manage its systems. Besides the slower speed of the vessel the main drawback it suffered from was the Marksman Barrel's nasty habit of generating lots of excess heat, the barrel needed to have many built in heat sinks and radiators in order to deal with this heat and remain operational. BB-17 would lead a successful career often operating alongside the infamous BB-06 Asuka."
