Matsuda

Matsuda, the "Blonde Guy With a Sword" himself joins the battle! Arrogant and hot-blooded, he'll stop at nothing to take his vengeance against the legendary warrior, Bernard...

Matsuda is a typical sword-fighter with an emphasis on aggression. He's kitted out with dangerous disjointed hitboxes and moves that rush forward to chase down opponents.

NEUTRAL SPECIAL: Guard Crusher
A devastating close-quarters attack with a huge amount of start-up and end-lag. Basically, it's Matsuda's version of the Falcon Punch! Press Shield to cancel the animation partway through.

SIDE SPECIAL: Dragon Kicks
Matsuda rushes forward with a flaming flurry of flying kicks! Travels further when used in mid-air. Try following up with another aerial attack!

UP SPECIAL: Windmill Slash
Matsuda flips into the air before plummeting down again with a fiery slash.

DOWN SPECIAL: Flash Counter
Matsuda enters a defensive stance. If you time it just right, Matsuda will barrel through incoming attacks, leaving a rapid series of slashes behind him. Good for juggles!

ULTRA: Blazing Assault
Matsuda launches forwards with a flying kick. If it connects, he'll lift the oppnent into the air with spin kicks before spiking them down with his sword. Be careful not to fly off the screen with the initial kick! You can press Shield to cancel the animation, though it might take a moment for Matsuda to come to a stop!

SPECIAL MECHANICS
- At the moment it's possible to cancel ledge attack into aerials. I'm not sure why this is happening! I might just replace the animation entirely with something more conventional later.

CREDITS
- Matsuda was originally someone I made in Soulcalibur IV's character creator back in the day, so his character design is made up of selectable parts from that game. His voice clips are borrowed from it directly.
- Matsuda's moveset borrows from Mitsurugi from Soulcalibur, Roy's depiction in Super Smash Bros, and even Street Fighter's Ken.
- Fire FX are (mostly) taken from Kaien and were drawn by the talented Danieru.
- Silver1906 for the LAP system
