Disable Ruins

Description

Ever wanted to land on a rimworld NOT filled with useless junk and forgotten ancient buildings that add little to no value to the environment? Have you ever just wanted to settle in a clean place not riddled with occasional slate statues and marble floors? Then look no further!

This configurable mod allows removing ruin generation from maps altogether. Originally meant to do only this, but I decided to include all gensteps for all vanilla map generators for that extra configurability label, even though some are not usable due to being integral to map generation. It's recommended to just keep the default settings.

  • Remove ruin scatterers and other gensteps for map generators.
  • A highly configurable settings menu where you can adjust almost every aspect of this mod.

Q: Why doesn't it work?
A: The patches only apply on game launch, so you need to reopen the game each time you change a setting.

Q: Why?
A: I don't like unnecessary ugly buildings that litter every tile I enter. I want my planets clean.

Q: Performance?
A: It is a simple XML patch mod with assemblies for mod settings. It should have no performance impact.

Q: Can I translate this?
A: I didn't deem it necessary to make this mod translatable as it uses actual genstep names for mod settings.

Q: I have a bug report!
A: For such a small mod I don't feel the need to add a separate discussion, so you can leave reports in the comments.

Everything that doesn't rely on specific gensteps you may or may not have toggled. This mod only affects vanilla gensteps, separate mods may handle it independently.

Safe to add and remove, however it will only affect newly generated maps.

None so far.

Please report any bugs, but note that as I don't actively mod, I may not be able to address them all.

seems work fine in 1.6, at least no errors for me with 250+ mods.

Would it be possible to reconfigure this mod to do what it does already, yes, good, valid: but ALSO the OPPOSITE?

The rim-world has been inhabited for a VERY long time, and the ruins of ancient cities, now abandoned, but only for a century or so, litter the landscape after a brutal, vicious, and extremely widespread "Luddite" rebellion/civil-war against dependence upon technology have shattered the once-mighty Imperial Stelarch's control over the planet... My "colonists" (An elite imperial strike-team), are here to RESTORE that control at the point of a sword and put a brutal and violent END to the ongoing Luddite (Tribal) rebellion...

I've always wanted to be able to play-through that story, but, can't due to the comparative paucity of ruins; this mod's the closest I've seen to something that would make something like that possible...

As someone playing fantasy/medieval colonies, that stuff always bothered me on the map.
Great mod and modular to boot!

Thank you so much.

Didn't realize how much all that trash annoyed me until now, thank you for making this.
