Wand Editing Bench

Description
Have you ever wished you could keep a wand because it just looked so darn cool? Maybe it had 5 prongs, was 7 feet long and bright red. Perhaps it wasn't quite so menacing, maybe it was just a little stubby boi that was begging to be the harbinger of doom. Unfortunately for you, it was a shuffle and it had over 5 seconds of cast delay, so you couldn't possibly keep it.... right?

Well have I got news for you.

Say Hello to the Wand Editing Bench!

These ancient, arcane benches store all of your old wands' appearances in the ether. And using the power of wizards, sorcery, and XML, they can help you customize your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ looking wands and make them look great. All you need to do is interface with one of these bad boys and BOOM , you can easily swap out the appearance of your new wands for any old one's you've found in the run thus far.

Wand editing benches can be found in most holy mountains and look like this:

These benches should also be able to log modded wands as well, so long as you've found them in your current run.

Upcoming Features

While these benches are fairly simple in their purpose, they could do a little more. I plan on adding a couple features and making a few toggleable (t) in the settings file.

Upcoming Features List
- Randomly scattering benches in the world (t)
- Making the sprites editable themselves
- Controller support (sorry)

In Development Notice (There will be Bugs)

There's bound to be bugs with this thing, and while it shouldn't crash your game or anything, it might not always work as intended. If you do find bugs, please post them in discussions. I will take a look at them.

If you have further suggestions, you can also leave a comment or post something in discussions and maybe I can add it.

Thank you @UserK. It's fixed now.

tags in the workshop.xml file should not have a space after the comma, this makes the workshop fail to recognise those tags as it will read them as having a space before the tag, you can see this in how this steam page displays the first tag separately from the invalid ones, just a heads up o/

to fix you just gotta remove the space after the comma, so something like "gameplay, graphics, tweaks, items, quality of life"

Ok, added a config option to modify where the bench spawns to one of 3 positions in the Holy Mountain

Alrighty, I can look into other spawn points for the bench. I assume this is for mod compatibility? Though when I first read this I had assumed you were talking about the GUI, and I ended up making that movable. I also made the bench nearly indestructable, so you shouldn't have any more issues with accidentally destroying it now.

could you please add a config to move where it generates? also make it immune to damage, I kinda delete the thing with a luminous drill at some point...

Yah, there's a reason for that, mostly that certain wands need to be accessed completely differently from most of the other wands. I can try incorporating them though, it'll likely just take some time to figure out how they work

This doesnt seem to add the starting wands as options for me, I can turn them into other wands but I'd like to do the opposite.

@OMGchildren I'll take a look in a week or so as I'm currently out of the country and in school. But my initial guess is a tentative no/sounds really friggin hard. Just because spells all have dramatically different properties that I imagine are linked to positions on their art. I doubt I could find a way to systematize all those, and if I can't systematize it then it would be extremely time consuming and wouldn't even work with modded spells.

can you do this for spells? i want the black hole to LOOK like the personal gravity field because if a black hole was actually that big and you spawned it the planet would be gone...
