Gateway 1

Description
The Gateway 1 is a Tier 3 Attack submarine intended for extra-large crews. The Gateway 1 is approximately 1.5x larger (in terms of internal space) compared to the Winterhalter, and is intended as an upgrade over the Winterhalter in campaigns, costing 41,000 marks.

Specifications
  • 15000 kW Max Reactor Output
  • 8 Batteries, 16000 kWmin Total Capacity
  • 4 Supercapacitors, 80 kWmin Total Capacity
  • 4 Turret Hardpoints (All Coilguns by default)
  • 2 Large Turret Hardpoints (All empty by default)
  • 56 Crate Storage Capacity (48 from ULDs)
  • 20 Diving Suit Lockers
  • 9 Ammunition Box Storage Capacity
  • 12 Railgun Shell Storage Capcity
  • 2 Depth Charge Tubes, each with 1 Depth Charge Loader

Features
  • When the reactor runs out of fuel or stops producing power, the batteries will continue to provide power if they still have charge. The submarine's lights are also configured to turn off when the reactor is out of fuel.
  • Two separate engineering rooms, each with their own fabricators, deconstructors, and storage.
  • Status monitors included in each engineering room for engineering crews to be quickly informed about the ship's status.
  • Dual control mode drone: The drone ship can be controlled either from within the drone, or from the mothership's drone control room. Simply press the "Take Control" button at either terminal to assume control. The green light will indicate you have control. Only one terminal will have control at a time.
  • Research station included below the Medical Bay.
  • Dual airlocks: Diving crews may elect to use either of the two airlocks onboard the Gateway 1.
  • Brig: The Gateway 1 includes a prison room with a lockable door for isolating dangerous crew members.

Usage Information
  • The drone has a switch which directs power from the batteries to recharge the supercapacitor. In the up position, the batteries will not charge it, while in the down position, they will.
  • The EDC at the rear of the ship can be triggered by the captain, or by a button in the room nearest the EDC.
  • The Brig's locking mechanism is designed to be impossible to trap yourself with. If you manage to do so, feel free to inform me, and congratulations.
  • There are 3 loose vents on the Gateway 1. None of them contain anything dangerous or notable. Locations: Brig, 1x Bandage; Fore Utility Compartment, empty; Ballast Tank A, empty.

Flavor Description
The Gateway series of submarines were originally commissioned by the Europa Coalition to be more capable than any submarine before it--longer mission endurance, deeper max dive depth, larger crew compliment, and more firepower. Though an impressive design, the Gateway program was cancelled after massive budget overruns and an ever-expanding list of design requirements stretched the timeline beyond what was acceptable. In the end, only four submarines in the series were constructed.
