In 1998, Jim Cornette brought a new version of the Midnight Express to the WWF as part of an NWA invasion angle. Bombastic Bob and Bodacious Bart won the NWA World Tag Team titles in March 1998 and held the belts for a few months before quietly fading away.

Bob (as Hardcore Holly) went on to become a 6-time WWF Hardcore Champion as well as hold the WWE World Tag Team Titles multiple times.
