Description
NOTE: In my view, my POI mods have been superseded by King of Canada's newer, even more fine-grained second USA POI project (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=3389574345). That's what I'm using, so these are no longer under maintenance.

Time to put those lazy pax to work! Inspired by user King of Canada's excellent "USA Jobs Centers POI" mod, I dug into the Census Transportation Planning Products (CTPP) data to create an even more granular layer of U.S. workplaces.

Thousands of Census Tracts
This four-part series of mods adds 31,179 POIs to your map, representing every U.S. census tract with more than 1,000 jobs. The total number of jobs is 102 million, capturing almost the entire workforce in urban areas, and 2/3rds of America's total employed population. I highly recommend you make the layer "hidden" when not planning station placement, there are a lot of labels.

Precise POI Placement
POI's are placed using the Census's "Median Center of Population" coordinates. In testing, this appears to almost entirely eliminate the problem of POIs for coastal census tracts appearing in the water.

More Jobs
The CTPP data is almost 10 years old at this point, and does not reflect employment growth, internal migration, or post-COVID workplace changes. While the last two are hard to address, all job numbers were increased by the percentage difference between 2014's "Total Employed Persons" figure and 2023's to approximate today's economy.

Demand Curve
The mod uses the "default" demand curve. In the current version of the game, there is no one-size-fits-all curve that works for all network types. Users are encouraged to build a curve appropriate for the type of system they plan to create.

Get 'em all!
Because of the size of the dataset, it must be broken into multiple mods to fit under the game's 10k-POI-per-mod limit.

This mod covers the South: AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, OK, PR, SC, TN, and TX.

The community should feel free to reuse, recycle, and build on this work!
