Louder & Punchier Weapon Sounds

Description
If I had one tiny little nitpick for this game ( other than there being not a SINGLE enemy sitting in a bathroom stall anywhere ) is that I think that the weapon firing and reload sounds are a bit quiet. They sound great, but you can hardly hear them among all the chaos and ambiance! With this mod both gunshots and reload sounds are louder and can be heard much clearer during combat.

I've mixed and chopped up most of the gun sounds together with some sounds from CoD, Counter-Strike, Payday, and probably more, just to sound that little bit more satisfying and punchy. They don't stray too far from how the original game sounds in my opinion, but if you have any suggestions for things to change do let me know! I made this mod for personal use because I'm a big sound design nerd but I'm happy to hear suggestions and the like.

*Railgun and legacy firing sound for the rifle have not been touched

Update regarding the missing SMG sprite comment:

It was an issue with the base game, so the mod itself works flawlessly.

Is there ever going to be an update where you bump up the legacy sound for the UC-36 ? The legacy rifle seems to be tied to some extra debris/particle sound FX that are missing from the default sound. I don't even have a preference for the legacy sound, its just much better with that extra debris sound.

This may or may not be a compatibility issue with the most recent update, but the SMGs sprites for when you climb stuff or interact with hand panels appear to be missing.

Excellent work, these sound very meaty. I especially like the smg sound!

I always love the opportunity to use different sounds, makes everything fresh again.

Its mods like these that are going to give Selaco a very long life and will keep us coming back for more. Thanks for your efforts.

Perhaps yes, the mixing in the demo for Selaco was a bit naff, but compared to the release game...I find many environmental, "shock" sounds (set piece moments like units coming in through the roof, etc, all those juicy F.E.A.R like moments), and ambient sounds are too quiet. Guns being a bit louder is great btw, but I think if the environmental sound effects and audio could be boosted up a bit more like the old demo in general, the entire atmosphere of the game would elevate to a 10 from a solid 9 already :).

Just my 2p, thank you for this so far though :). 2/2

@Nexxtic interesting you mention about the old demo, the audio is MUCH LOUDER in the old demo (as you said, wild mixing) but it...works. I actually think at times the old demo "feels" better because of how OVER THE TOP the audio is, everything sounds like it hits like a fucking train and that's BRILLIANT in games like these!

Reminded me of BLACK on the PS2. If anyone has never played that game, even on basic headphones, the mixing is incredible in that it has some of the loudest sounding guns in any game ever but they all hit like fucking trains and it's AWESOME for it; so play it.

Just get better headphones, pair a Sennheiser HD599 with a Schiit Fulla DAC/AMP and get literally blown away by the punch, clarity, details and big soundstage you will have in games, music and media.

This sounds great, bumping up the gun sounds really adds a more tactile feel to the weapons, even just zooming in and out.

It's very easy to get carried away! Selaco's mixing was terrible when we launched the demo 2 years ago; it was a loud mess where audio clarity was completely lost once bullets start flying because I didn't really care about the audio levels.

Guns get a lot more punchy is there's something to compare it against. So if the shotgun shot is much louder than the pump that follows after, it starts to feel a lot stronger!

Either way, I gave it a spotlight. I love mods like these!
