Psyshrooms

Description
A subterranean solution for the aspiring psychite kingpin

This mod adds Psyshrooms, a type of psychedelic fungus that can be refined into psychite and its related drugs! It can even be eaten raw, or fermented into the powerful alcohol Croomin!

This mod was made for those of us who like making fat stacks off flake and yayo, but don't or can't use hydroponics for whatever reason. The raw shrooms are edible, and they will give a mild high to those who eat them. Good for tribals, but refining them into flake or yayo will always be more profitable. Psyshrooms can also be used to produce the powerful alcohol known as Croomin.

From Rimworld version 1.6 and onwards, we are now using the Vanilla Expanded Framework for fermenting functionality. [SYR] Processor Framework is required ONLY if you're playing with the 1.5 version of this mod.

Compared against Psychoid:
  • Each psyshroom yields only 5 usable product, compared to psychoid's yield of 8.
  • Psyshrooms take 11 growth days to reach maturity, compared to psychoid's 9 days.
  • Psyshrooms can be grown underground without light.
  • Psycaps are immediately consumable, unlike psychoid leaves.

How do I get started?
Exactly like you do with psychoid! Psyshrooms can be planted from the get-go, but they require a grower with level 6 in the plants skill. The creation of psychite tea, flake and yayo require their respective research projects to be completed. Brewing croomin requires the Beer Brewing research.

Compatibility
  • Compatible with mods that alter psychite/flake/yayo.
  • Items from other mods that require psychoid leaves for crafting will require a patch.
  • Safe to add to ongoing saves. Removal is untested, it is probably safe but may throw errors.
  • Patched to support crafting antibiotics from Vanilla Races Expanded - Genie.

@Rk
Hi, thanks for pointing this out! I just had a look, and I found the issue. Turns out my code for the croomin mood buff was accidentally overwriting Rimworld's code for the default alcohol mood buff. I'm about to push out an update that fixes this issue.

This mod has now been updated for Rimworld 1.6!

1.6 Update for this mod will be delayed a bit. Looking into rewriting it to possibly use VE's fermenting system rather than the [SYR] Processor Framework.

That being said, I don't think 1.6 should have broken this mod. You should still be able to run it. If you run into any issues, let me know!

Nice I stumbled onto this by accident as someone on the rimworld discord told me to check out DetVisor's stuff, and I pretty much always play an undergrounder type but exactly like you said, love to grow drugs to sell as income so this will be useful. Cool art too btw!

@Nova Solarius
The recipe value was indeed incorrect. The psychite tea recipe is meant to only require 4 psykcaps. I have just pushed out an update to fix this. Thank you for letting me know!

There appears to be an error with the recipe for converting psykcaps to psychite tea. To be specific, the normal recipe requires 7 psykcaps for 1 tea, whereas the bulk recipe uses 16 for 4. Since the latter is in line with the vanilla counterpart, I assume that the normal recipe is supposed to require 4, rather than 7, psykcaps.

@Scarlet Sade I'm not sure actually, as I haven't tested it. I believe they can.

Hi, can pawns with a genetic psychite dependency eat the raw psykshrooms for the dependency?
