Description
What is this?
This mod adds different types of mushrooms that can be picked from the ground in forests. You will find both edible and poisonous mushrooms (of varying toxicity), which can all be eaten and used as animal bait or food. Consuming poisonous mushrooms can have harmful effects, such as knocking out or immediately killing whoever eats it, as well as drastically increasing their hunger/thirst.

What does it do
It adds more than 10 mushroom patch models that will spawn around forests, with some being poisonous. When a character eats a poisonous mushroom (rabbit, chicken, deer or human), they will be harmed in different ways. Small animals are likely to die, while bigger ones will probably fall unsconscious and it will increase their hunger / thirst.

You can tweak the settings file to change which mushrooms are poisonous (the mod will change the icon accordingly), as well as their toxicity. If you want to disable any of the mushroom patches or make them non-toxic, you can also do so. Read the Settings section.

By the default behaviour, the harvest of mushrooms is tied to the farming skill. If you have a low farming skill, you might not get any mushrooms out of the patches. You can disable this in the settings file.

Can be added to current saves but will need to generate a new map (Hit the Road) to spawn the mushroom patches.

Not tested in co-op

Settings
  • MushroomPatchSettings. The settings for each mushroom.
  • FarmingSkillAffectsHarvest. Whether the farming skill of the character affects how many mushrooms he will get. (default true)
  • MinMushroomsHarvest. If "FarmingSkillAffectsHarvest" is DISABLED, then this is the minimum number of mushrooms you can get. (default 1)
  • MaxMushroomsHarvest. If "FarmingSkillAffectsHarvest" is DISABLED, then this is the maximum number of mushrooms you can get. (default 3)

MushroomPatchSettings
The settings for each mushroom. You can add new mushroom patches, set which prop a mushroom is grabbable from and the toxicity from consuming it.
  • PropPrototypeName. The prop prototype name of the mushroom patch.
  • EquipmentPrototypeName. The resulting mushroom grabbed from the above prop.
  • SpawnProbabilityFactor. The spawn probability factor.
  • PoisonousFactor. The poisonous factor of eating the mushroom.
  • Enabled. Whether this mushroom patch will spawn.

Notes
Be careful when editing the spawn factor probabilities of the mushroom patches, as the setting is very sensitive. Recommended to keep them below 0.05.

Compatibility
Could have incompatibilities with mods altering the MoveToAndGrab class. Otherwise, there should be no issues.

Mod doesn't work with game v239. The following error is displayed:

Error (v239): Load resource failed: assets/sweetcaptn/pickmushrooms/mushroom1.prefab UnityEngine.Debug:LogError (object)

Do mushrooms respawn like trees do or are they gone forever after being picked?

Loving your mods so far! I just noticed that mushrooms & berry bushes (from the mod SIS Pick Berries) are not interact-able in Command Mode. Are there any limitations from adding this as a feature?
