OP&P Steam Excursion Stars Pack

The Oregon Portland & Pacific Railroad is a fictional railroad of mine that operates from 1880 through the present.


1474 is a F-1 Class 4-8-4 Northern Type Steam Locomotive built by the Northern Locomotive (NLW, my loco builder) Works in 1941 for the Oregon Portland & Pacific Railroad (OP&P) for use of Passenger & Freight Service. Later in her life, she was renumbered to 1469 when OP&P made a agreement to CV&W (Pennsy's Railroad) to lease of their F-1's to the Railroad. The engine was retired in July of 1961, 1474 was preserved by OP&P, and it was renumbered back to 1474 put on static display at Oaks Park with SP 4-8-4 No. 4449, SP&S 4-8-4 No. 700, and OR&N 4-6-2 No. 197. The 1474 will remain on static display until 1978, when OP&P acquired the locomotive for their Steam Program. The restoration was completed on April 12th, 1980 and she began hauling Excursion Trains throughout the OP&P Trackage. In 1981, she doubleheaded with R-4 2-10-4 Texas Type No. 3088 to participate the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, California with SP 4449, UP 844 & 3985, and along other steamers. In 1997, the locomotive was send to the OP&P Steam Shops for its FRA Year Overhaul, and it return to steam once again in 2012. As of today the engine is planned to haul Excursion Trains for the 2025 Operating Season.




3088 is a R-4 Class 2-10-4 Texas Type Steam Locomotive built by the Northern Locomotive Works in 1944 for the Oregon Portland & Pacific Railroad primary for Freight Service. 3088 is one of the last 2-10-4's built for the Railroad.
The locomotive was stored in the OP&P Steam Shops when the railroad discontinued Steam Operations in 1964. However, unlike UP 844, 3088 was never retired and sold for scrap. Instead, 3088 was chosen by OP&P for use of Mainline Excursion Service. In 1981, the 3088 doubleheaded with F-1 4-8-4 No. 1474 to participate to the California State Railroad Museum with the other steamers. The engine was selected for the NRHS Special Excursion in 1987 from San Francisco, California, to Ogden, Utah. In 2002 the engine was send back again to the OP&P Steam Shops for its FRA Overhaul. The 3088 return to steam once again in 2010 and continue to haul Excursion Trains for the raiload. As of today, the engine is stored at OP&P Steam Hops for Winter Storage.



3987 is a H-1 Class 4-8-4 Hudson Type Steam Locomotive built by the Northern Locomotive Works in 1937 as a Premier Passenger Locomotive until being retired from service in 1960. Following from its retirement, the engine was put on display outside of OP&P Steam Shops. In 1973, the locomotive was sent to the OP&P Steam Shops by the group OP&P Employees had plans to restore the locomotive to operating condition. The restoration was completed in 1975, and began hauling Excursion Trains for the Railroad. And during the restoration, the locomotive was converted to burn oil to increase its route capability. In 1987, the engine hauled the special excursion from Denver, Colorado to Cheyenne, Wyoming to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Nevada Western Historical Society Steam Special.
Following the end of the Special Excursion, the 3987 will continue to see use for Excursions until 2000 when the engine was sent to OP&P Steam Shops for its overhaul. The engine return to Steam in 2014 and began to haul more Excursion Trains. As of today, the 3987 is stored at the OP&P Steam Shops for Winter Storage.
