Ernest Shackleton, a titan of the Antarctic frontier, stands as an enduring symbol of resilience and leadership in the annals of exploration. His epic legacy continues with the BPL Y340 Exploration Frigate - a robust spacecraft perfect for bolstering the scientific capabilities of any noteworthy fleet. BPL primarily designed this craft for limited internal usage, but after being contacted and begged numerous organisations they initiated mass production and began selling the lightweight vessel to external entities.

The early variants of the vessel lacked armament, but BPL's customers demanded so - it was found that smaller navies were modifying the ships and utilising them in lieu of an attack boat or light strike corvette. Additionally modifications were made to the crew compartment, maximising comfort. The ship was also fitted with large battery packs to supplement the formidable (for its size) power plant, though the effect on weight meant that it was sold as a heavier sister-ship that only saw minor production numbers.
