JUST SUBSCRIBING WILL NOT WORK! READ INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

You are going to need following tools:

When you have these, you are ready to begin:

1) Create a folder called "X360_background" inside your "Left 4Dead 2" game folder. Use reference image below for help:



2) Subscribe to this addon

3) Go to your "workshop" folder and find the following addon:



4) Extract the vpk using CGFScape:

Drag the vpk file to the CGFScape program to open it. When everything is done, CGFScape should look like this:



Right click on "root" folder. Extract these files to your desktop for example:

5) Copy "media" and "sound" folder

6) Paste the MEDIA AND SOUND folders inside "X360_background" folder you created earlier:

NOTE: Do not paste "root" folder, only "media" and "sound"



7) Find a text file called "gameinfo.txt" inside "left4dead2" folder and open it



Open "gameinfo.txt" with your desired text editor. After this, write the following line ABOVE the "update" text



8) Save and exit


YOU ARE FINISHED! CONGRATULATIONS!
Next time you launch L4D2 the backgrounds should show up like in the video above.



NOTE: If there is an update to Left 4 Dead 2, or you verify integrity of game files, this modified gameinfo.txt will be reverted to stock - the main menu background will not work.
To avoid this, you can make a backup of your gameinfo.txt to re-overwrite the new gameinfo.txt.

is it actually a .bik video? or is it like tf2 backgrounds, it uses map_background?

wish there was an addon like this that had all of the background effects, such as the zombies mumbling and audibly walking around, the storm in the distance, and so on.
