General Information
The SX is a family of high-mobility off-road tactical trucks manufactured by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV). Production of the type had ended by early 2019. The SX range had its design origins in the MAN KAT1 range of trucks, and for brief periods was marketed as the SX90 or S2000 range of trucks. MAN (now RMMV) claimed it was the most mobile and reliable truck on earth…There were 8×8, 6×6, and 4×4 variants, although during later production runs only 6×6 and 8×8 variants were produced. All SX trucks are air-transportable by C-130 Hercules in cargo configuration, with limited preparation in some instances. A 10×10 demonstrator was also built, with a 1000 hp engine, but this did not enter production. The SX range shared a number of technologies (most visibly, the modular military-specific cab) with the HX, and also the earlier FX, LX and MX families. The UK MoD ordered large numbers of SX and MAN HX trucks to replace fleets of Foden, Bedford, and DAF Trucks. 7285 had been ordered by April 2010. A 8x8 heavy recovery version has also been built; the UK MoD ordering 288.

Operation
Startup
  • Flip the electric circuit breaker to on
  • Turn the key to on
  • The Truck is now on

Operation
  • Standard [W] [S] [A] [D] throttle and steering
  • [←] and [→] toggle the blinkers
  • The transmission is automatic but [↑] and [↓] can tell the transmission to shift if it is being dumb
  • [1] Toggles the parking brake
  • [2] Toggles reverse
  • [3] Is the horn
  • [4] Toggles Semi-Automatic Mode. This mode prevents the transmission from automatically upshifting. Useful if towing heavy objects up hills
  • [Space] Applies brakes to trailers connected via SIBTaT or T-TIS. Use this if the trailer is getting out of control
  • If the engine’s RPS gets too low and forces the transmission to downshift while throttle is applied, Upshift lock will be enabled. This prevents the the transmission from attempting to shift up again until the throttle is released

Lifting
  • It is strongly advised to lower the outriggers and spades before using the crane
  • Buttons to deploy the outriggers and spades can be found in the locker labeled: “Towbar & Stabilizer Controls”
  • Controls for the crane can be found in the locker labeled: “Crane Controls”
  • The crane can be operated remotely if the remote frequency is set between 0 and 9. Set the frequency to - for panel control. The remote control scheme is listed next to the controls
  • When using the remote control, [2] Serves as a control signal to the truck preventing the crane magnets from being toggled whenever the remote is unequipped
  • To save battery, [Crane Power] is off by default. To use the crane toggle the button on. Be warned that the crane may jolt when powered on
  • Mag-All attachments can be found in the locker labeled: “Crane Magnet Blocks” for lifting objects without rope anchors

Towing
  • It is advised that you stow the crane in its forward position over the cab while towing to prevent the possibility of the towed vehicle impacting the crane
  • A magnetic light bar can be found in the locker labeled: “Magnetic Light Bar”. Attach this light bar to the rear of the vehicle you are towing via the marked cable anchor on the rear of the truck

Service
  • The fuel hose anchor is on the fuel tank, on the right side of the truck
  • An electric cable anchor connected directly to the battery can be found on the front bumper
  • A spare hose and cable can be found in the locker labeled: “Cable & Hose Storage”
  • A welding torch can be found in the locker labeled: “Equipment Storage”
  • The cab can be lifted for access to the engine and batteries by turning the key on the driver side wheel arch
