That's just one of the flaws.
There are many flaws and an idea that seems good but doesn't work in my opinion.
In general, the map brings to light all the flaws that the game may have.
There is quite a variety of units in the game, but the variety of units on the map seems scarce to me.
As you said before, determining the areas of death from water is difficult. Also, I don't really see that mechanic in this game.
Then there are also things that you are not to blame for. The units in the Raising Hell DLC seem poorly balanced to me.
Those are some of the flaws that I see.
It may seem like I'm taking it out on you, but I also remember that you made the map that I liked the most.
but it's only my opinion.
Its not a decor that changes depending on the water type (water or lava) of the map setting. So unless the devs make a new unit for lava or make it change dynamically, it cannot be done for lava.
but well it's just my taste.
Please let me know if you find any others and I'll look into adjusting the areas
