LotR Barad-dûr

Description
"Then at last his gaze was held: wall upon wall, battlement upon battlement, black tower of adamant, he saw it: Barad-dûr, Fortress of Sauron. All hope left him."
—The Fellowship of the Ring, "The Breaking of the Fellowship"

Barad-dûr ("Dark Fortress") was Sauron's central stronghold in Mordor, serving as his seat of power in Middle-earth in the Second Age and late Third Age.

It was sustained by dark magic and was the greatest fortress in Middle-earth of its time. It was originally built in the Second Age, and leveled after Sauron's defeat in the War of the Last Alliance. Sauron had Barad-dûr rebuilt late in the Third Age as he regained his power, but the tower was forever destroyed immediately upon the destruction of the One Ring.

Barad-dûr was built by Sauron in the land of Mordor, not far from the volcano known as Mount Doom. The construction of the tower began around the SA 1000, and took six hundred years to complete. It was the greatest fortress built since the fall of Angband during the War of Wrath.

Barad-dûr was besieged for seven years by the Last Alliance of Elves and Men during the Second Age, and was leveled after Sauron's defeat at the hands of Isildur. But because it was created using the power of the One Ring, its foundations could not be destroyed while the Ring itself still existed. As Isildur failed to destroy the Ring, the tower was eventually re-built when Sauron returned to Mordor thousands of years later in TA 2942.

Map Spoilers: the "event" at the start is supposed to be the destruction of the One Ring and the Fall of Sauron. The 2 monks at Mt. Doom are Frodo and Sam - I hope it gets the point across and I hope you have fun playing my little scenario :)

Thanks again for playing :describeorig:

Yes, as usual the AI gets itself stuck sometimes and ofc you gotta kill Frodo and Sam at the end to get the victory message :thewolf:

The color of the ground works atleast with the first artwork, but darker would be much more fitting

The ruins are a nice ideal which I didnt think about, I'll update when I get a chance :)

The only to things I find improvable are tied to the limitiation of stronghold itself. For once I figured green grass is not a good representation of burned mordor. I tried myself there is no legit way of creating a darker more frighting ground. But it lessens the illusions. Second thing is that by text we are told to defend the remains of Barad Dur after the ring got destroyed. Since a large tower is not possible to be build within Stronghold. So it would have been nice to habe some roubles or remains surrounding the fortress creating the illusion of a tower that fell at the start of the map.

Otherwise another incredible map. Looking forward to play the next.

Another incredible map to beat. The fire Easter Egg at the beginning is a nice touch and I find myself in a difficult spot of defending.
Luckly in my third attempt the enemy decided attack in smaller more managable sizes allowing to delay the final attack for long enough to keep it small and burn it.

There is one thing I noticed at the end. After defeating the major forces some got themself stuck in the pitch pits by destroying the stairs and another hide himself and i could locate him and it took serveral moments till the victory screen appeared. He must have flet at some point.
