𝓛𝓸𝓻𝓮:

The Grandic, a steel-hulled cargo ship of 170 feet (52 meters) in length and 49 feet (15 meters) from keel to mast, was laid down in late 1907 by the Great Lakes Steam & Company. Alongside her, two sisters were constructed, although their names have since faded from the annals of maritime history. The anticipation surrounding her launch in early 1908 was palpable, and when she set out to sea for the first time in December of that year, she embodied the hopes and aspirations of her builders, crew, and the shipping industry of the time.

As a sturdy vessel designed for the challenges of cargo transport, the Grandic typically carried timber and other goods across the Great Lakes. Her reputation quickly grew, and her journeys were marked by the rhythm of the waves and the daily life of a dedicated crew of sixteen men. However, the maritime world can be unforgiving, and in 1909, tragedy struck when one of her sisters sank after a collision with a passenger liner, serving as a stark reminder of the perils that lurked beneath the surface.

In 1911, the Grandic underwent a significant refit, which included the installation of a Marconi wireless set among other enhancements. This upgraded technology broadened the ship’s navigational capabilities and allowed for greater communication at sea, preparing her for the increasingly complex and crowded waters of the Great Lakes. The crew and passengers alike embraced the new features, believing these advancements would ensure their safety and efficacy in transporting cargo.

However, destiny had different plans. The year 1915 heralded a horrific night when a violent storm ravaged the Great Lakes. The Grandic, beset by towering waves and fierce winds, was caught in nature's wrath. The storm struck with little warning, and as the crew clambered to secure the ship, a massive wave lashed against her hull. The force of the storm was so great that it caused the ship to snap in two, the bow sinking rapidly into the frigid depths while the stern was left to face the chaos of the night.

Most of the crew were sleeping in bow bunks when disaster struck, leaving only six men at the stern. It quickly became apparent that the stern would also succumb to the tempest. The remaining crew members scrambled to launch the lifeboats as the ship pitched violently. One lifeboat suffered a catastrophic failure during launch, smashed against the ship's side under the relentless waves. The second lifeboat, however, managed to make it into the water without issue, offering a glimmer of hope in the despair.

Despite the horror of that fateful night, luck was on the side of fate. Nearby, the Coast Guard had been conducting routine patrols and, upon receiving distress signals, rushed to the scene. In total, 13 out of the 16 crew members were rescued

You know, for all you guys who does not spend months on making stuff in a game, It gets really boring sitting infront of a PC, And spending months of something that's just on a PC is just a waste, That is why SireToasty left. I have also thought about leaving, But i decided to just take breaks instead.
