Description
This mod aims to make AA guns solely focused on taking out planes instead of being another melee unit.

The promotions are as follows:

Flack I II III
+50% strength when intercepting and defending from planes/helicopters

Quick Fire I II
+1 interception per turn

Tracking I II
+1 interception range

Medic I
Same as default

-------------------------Notes -------------------------
  • Both the AA gun and mobile SAM have 100% interception chance
  • The base bonus vs air/helicopter units is now set to 50 (originally 150), this can now be increased to a maximum of 200 from the flack promotion
  • Both the AA gun and mobile SAM can not longer melee attack
  • Mobile SAM now starts with 3 hex interception range but requires 1 aluminium
  • AA gun now doesn't become obsolete
  • They now receive 5 XP from interceptions to help gain promotions

Known Issues
Some promotions may not display on the AI's units, e.g it may show they don't have quickfire but they actually do.

Compatibility
This shouldn't cause conflict with other mods but I haven't tested with extra promotion mods.

Do these new improvements allow atomic bomb or Nuclear Missile interception? I'm not 100% but I remember reading that vanilla AA units couldn't intercept those

This is because they only receive 2xp from interceptions, I'm going to raise this value to 5xp in the next update so promotions are easier to get

OK possible - But I must admit with over 11k hours in game I do not recall ever getting a highly promoted AA unit.

Correct, but by the time AA guns are produced they will gain 2 promotions from an armoury, allowing them to reach their original damage. As opposed to the wasted promotions like drill and shock. The debuff is offset by the new promotions being extremely useful against aircraft. Quick Fire = more interceptions = more units saved + more xp

Am I correct in assuming with this mod AA starts out MUCH weaker than originally and need multiple promotions just to get to equal strength ?? :Citadel:
