Dhampir: Playable Half-Vampire Race

Description
Playable Dhampir, a half vampire race.
UPDATE! This mod now supports vampirism and lycanthropy!
REQUIRES Racial Compatibility v1-7 [www.nexusmods.com]
Download Racial Compatablity v1-7 (but NOT the Tutorial or the GenericRaceController)manually or with the Nexus mod manager and install appropriately. This is a Master File and is ABSOLUTELY needed. Your game WILL NOT RUN without this esm and it's scripts.

This is a simple race mod that adds a new playable race without replacing an old one. No DLC required and quasi-lore friendly for the open minded.
(Now availabile in French thanks to Saqeulle!)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
I get asked a lot of the same questions in the comments section. Please look here before posting a question, you may find your answer.

How do I become a dhampir?
Two ways. 1.) At character creation, choose Dhampir as your race. 2.) Turn your current character into a dhampir, you need to use the console. For that, you need to hit the ` button (just to the left of the 1 and above Tab) to open the console and type showracemenu then hit enter. This forces the character creation screen to open wherever you are and you can recustomize your character, including race.

Does this mod have armor/weapons?
No. I don't do any kinds of graphics modding so custom armor and weapons are beyond my ability. I also don't intend on learning how to do it. The cover image for my mod is an example of a dhampir from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

Does this mod have any custom appearances for the new race?
No it doesn't. The race uses Nord as a template (since they're the most common race in Skyrim) so dhampirs look like Nords. There's a list of mods that change appearance below. I highly recommend them.

My game won't launch after subscribing to your mod, why not?
You probably didn't download and/or install the racecompatability.esm and it's scripts which are required for this version of the mod. To manually install, just put the racecompatability.esm and the scripts folder into your Skyrim Data folder. It's usually found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data

Why do I need to download a mod from the nexus for your mod to work?
Originally you didn't need to, but my mod didn't support dhampirs becoming vampires or werewolves. There were overwhelming requests for my mod to support vampirism/lycanthropy. In order to do that, I needed to use the masterfile and scripts from RacialCompatability. Because of that, those files are required to run my mod.

What do I do if I don't want to download from the nexus but want to play a dhampir?
I'd recommend trying out my original version of the mod which does not have the requirement, but also still does not support vampirism/lycanthropy. If you don't intend on completeing the companion questline or joining the vampire clan in Dawnguard, then that version will work just fine for you.

Is this race based on Blade/Bloodrayne/Vampir Hunter D/etc?
This race is not based on any specific dhampirs or their abilities. It's based on the playable dhampir race from the Pathfinder Role Playing game[/url], a pen and paper fantasy rpg. The races abilities are based on the concept/description/abilities of that race.

How do you pronounce dhampir?
Dam-peer or Dam-feer are most commmon, even though there's no 'ph' in the word.

About this mod:
Being half-vampire, dhampirs are more powerful than the standard races are. I didn't want to unbalance the game too much, and likely by the time the levels start stacking up, it'll make very little difference. I also never use followers, so being a little more powerful didn't feel like a bad thing for me. Additionally, dhampirs do have some minor drawbacks.

Race menu description:
For reasons unknown, a rare few are born with Sanguinare Vampiris. These unique individuals are called dhampirs, or half-vampires. Whatever the circumstances of their birth, these dhampirs enjoy a fraction of the benefits and suffer some of the drawbacks of their vampiric kin. Unique to dhampirs is a natural ability to sense undead creatures and immunity to diseases.

Starting Stats:
Health: 120
Magicka: 120
Stamina: 120
Carryweight: 400

Starting Skill bonuses:
Sneak +10
Conjuration +5
Destruction +5
Illusion +5
Light Armor +5
Speech +5

Starting abilities:
Vampiric Drain: Drain 10 health from the targer for 15 magicka per second. This is supposed to replace Flames and Healing cause I use the No Starting Spells mod.
Light Sensitivity: Regenerate health, magicka, and stamina 15% slower in daylight. No damage done by sunlight. Daylight messages were updated. They're closer to the vanilla game messages and more appropriate for both dhampir and vampire now.
Predator's Inheritance: Harder to detect while sneaking.
Weakness to Fire: 10% weakness
Resist Frost: 10% resistance
Sense the Dead: Detect nearby undead, 15 magicka per second. Based on Pathfinder RPG dhampir ability.
Disease Resistance: 50% resistance to diseases, taken down from 100% now that the mod supports vampirism/lycanthropy.
Bloodlust: New ability. Frenzy power, double damage to enemies and take half damage for 30 seconds. Based on Old World of Darkness vampire rules regarding hunger frenzy.

About Vampirism:
If you become a vampire, the only racial ability you retain is Sense Dead, because the other dhampir racial abilities are weaker versions of vampire abilities. There's no sense in having the same ability twice at different power levels, so in becoming a vampire, your abilities are sort of "upgraded." If you cure your vampirism, then you regain the dhampir abilities. Also, you loose Bloodlust if you become a vampire, because now you're able to feed. Bloodlust was added as a lore ability, implying that dhampirs still hunger for blood but can't feed, so they occasionally go into a blood frenzy in an attempt to sate their hunger. And I can't do anything about your eyes changing color if you become a vampire, sorry.

Compatability/Load Order:
At this point, since the mod is still very new I'm not sure what kind of compatability issues it might have, especially now that it supports vampirism and lycanthropy.
Better Vampires: Should work fine. The mod website has instructions on how to ensure compatability.
Werewolf Mastery: Incompatable. It states in it's description that it's not compatable with mods that alter the PlayerWerewolfChangeScript.pex script, and my mod relies on that script. Without it, your character becomes a human with wood elf racial abilities after your beast form duration runs out.
Moonlight Tales: Not sure yet. I'll have to check that one out more when I have more time.
