Introduction

Although KartKraft seems kinda dead, I was able to get it very cheap, gave it a try, was impressed and decided to use ReShade to bring the graphics "back to life" in 2024.
The whole installation and setup process takes only up to 2 minutes and it is completely free!

But, as this game is kinda dead, this is a short version of my usual guides.
=> Have a look at them for a detailed installation process!

Performance-wise you'll need some extra GPU performance - but the actual impact hardly depends on your overall system specs, ingame settings as well as your screen resolution!
Expected fps loss:

'Performance': ~3%
'Normal': ~10%
'Ultra': ~20%

Installation

Extract the preferred, or simply all, *.ini files (those are the reshade presets) from the downloaded zip archive into your KartKraft directory under:
?:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\KartKraft\project_k\Binaries\Win64\

TIP: FPS Sutter Fix

Impartial of ReShade, every now and then (~300 or 500 seconds) you will notice massive frame drops in the main menu as well as while driving in KartKraft. This is a a network related bug as the game tries to connect to the game's server which is not online anymore! But it can be easily fixed:

Regarding my GUIDEs: I will never ever make a guide again thx to steam.

I wanted to free up some space and deleted thousands of screenshots from my disk via the steam screenshot manager. But when you do that, steam will also delete all your screenshots you uploaded to he steam cloud (e.g. for a steam guide) as well - and without informing you about that. WTF Valve

Mate, even vanilla is too dark and you made it even darker :D Look at the tyres, the side-pod and the track, you cant even distinguis them. Anyways, still thanks for your work, there are probably people out there who like it that way but i just wanted to give my feedback. I think a reshade which actually manages to fix the black levels in the vanilla game would be appreciated
