The heroic defense of La Coruña

In the year of 1589, soon after the notorius defeat of Invincible Armada, the enemies of Spanish crown have gathered a powerful fleet under the command of Sir Francis Drake and Sir John Norris. This so-called “English Armada” has invaded the Spanish coast in order to finally destroy all remained ships belonging to Spaniards. Their first goal happened to be La Coruña – old fishing village with only about 4,000 permanent inhabitants and little military importance. Still, the citizens were able to provide several galleons and smaller ships which reinforced the existing fortifications and old medieval wall of the town. On the 4th of May British forces have arrived and the bloodiest battle seen by this small city has eventually started!

In this scenario you are to take command of Spanish forces in order to defend La Coruña against the foreign invaders. Several warships as well as certain fortifications are at your service. Be aware, that the British will launch full-scale attack on the city from the land and also bombard it using their sea fleet. Also, they’ll try to land their troops right in the town’s harbor! If you want to stop British forces you’ll have to eliminate all the officers commanding this invasion; find them and kill as soon as possible or La Coruña will be doomed!

Actually, this map was made mostly as a large attraction, showing sea battle in its full scale (with the possibilities provided by Stronghold map editor). So, you can just watch the action and do not interrupt the events, awaiting for the natural end… Still, you can win the scenario if you kill every orange engineer (these are supposed to be British officers commanding the siege), although the possibility of doing so highly depends on the luck rather than on your own skills. So, feel free to enjoy the sea battle in Stronghold!
