myth fitting gods’ location, historical cult centre & patron gods of npc factions

Description
default gods' discoverable locations seem quite random (e.g. why Set in Nubia? why Horus exiled to Kush?).
this mod relocate several gods' discoverable locations to fit mythology/ history, while maintain regional-balance.
it also swaps few cult centres to align more closely with historical accuracy.
this mod also adjusts minor & NPC factions' starting deity to their historical patron gods, such as Zawty worshipping Anubis.

as a god has many temples across the country, this mod doesn't aim to be 100% historical/ mythological accurate.
in this mod, almost all vanilla gods (Egyptian Canaanite Hittite, except Moloch) will have 2 discoverable regions;
the region where his cult centre locates, plus a region of influence.

this mod also reduce the tediousness of discovering certain gods (e.g. now you don't have to go all the way down to Kush to discover Horus; for Northern factions you can discover him in Sinai, Southern factions can discover him in Nubia)

this mod can be activated half way during a campaign.

~~Locations in Egypt~~
Sinai:
Horus (there is Way of Horus in Sinai. He is also the patron of Tjaru, at border of Sinai.)
Thoth (worshipped in Sinai, there are theories that Sinai was named after Canaanite moon god Sin, who was merged with Thoth)
Isis (she took Hathor's appearence [cow horn] who was popular in Sinai.)

Northern Egypt [unchanged]:
Ra (Patron of Iunu & Ra-ked)
Ptah (Patron of Mennefer)
Thoth (Patron of Khemenu)

Southern Egypt [unchanged]:
Osiris (Patron of Abdju, and buried there)
Set (Patron of Naqada)
Amun (Patron of Waset)

Nubia:
Horus (Patron of Buhen, this mod also relocates his in-game cult centre to Buhen for historical accuracy)
Isis (her historical cult centre Philae was at Nubian border)
Osiris (he was also worshipped in Philae, its said to be one of his bury places)

Kush:
Amun (historically popular amongst Kushite)
Anubis (one of his titles is Lord of Nine Bows)
Ptah (a free spot to fill him in)

Western Desert:
Set (god of desert, historically worshipped in the likes of Mut, Dakhleh Oasis.)
Anubis (jackals can be found in desert)
Ra (a free spot left, there were temples of Amun-Ra in Western Desert, or assume he's about to have a westward boat trip with Set after sunset)

~~Canaan & Others~~
Yamm is from Ugaritic myth, thus relocated to Ugarit (Yamhad) swapping with El;
El now in Ashkelon (Fenkhu), so he can be himself or roleplay Yahweh.
details of Canaan, other regions & future addition of Athena are in discussion threads.

~~Minor Factions' starting deity~~
this mod adjusted minor factions' patron deity (Setnakhte - Set / Ashkelon - El / Ugarit - Yamm);
however, i haven't modded the startup buildings, so until then if you use those few minor factions, you just have to take a little challege to demolish the wrong startup shrine/ temple.

this mod is designed to combine with myth fitting gods' boosts & local god crests mods.

@Seti

Thanks for a detailed response!

Will look forward to any new updates :)

thx :) glad to hear you guys enjoy them :)

crest-wise,
i haven't looked deep into Mesopotamian & Aegean factions.
from surface, the likes of Apollonia & Cabalis could have more related logos,
while the likes of Athens & Lycia make sense (Greece is less random than Egypt);
currently i'm unfamiliar with Mesop cities though.

someone else is also working on certain Greek faction(s) :)

so for now, i don't have a definite plan for Mesop & Aegean crests.

Thank you for your mods and tweaks!

I have to ask, do you plan to expand the scope of your god/crest mods outside of Egypt and Canaan?

I’m not well versed in Bronze Age period yet, so I don’t even know if Mesopotamia and Aegean have any problems in this regard, but I just adore your work and had to ask :)

Athens is not playable, but Odysseus & Diomede are favoured by Athena.
Shrines of Athena across Greece also feel more historically correct than Ares.

Consider that her name was derived from the city name in every city that venerated her. To put it simply, she was only known as Athena at Athens, whereas at Mycenae she was known as Mykene and so on. It might be important given that you cannot actually play as Athens. Then again, the game uses the more popularly known ahistorical names for all the gods.

unlikely from me, sorry.
i mostly focus on existing gods in "myth fitting gods' boosts" mod , making their boosts fit their myth, rather than creating more nametags of a god with random boosts.
Athena is just an one-off special case, as there isn't a good solution of myth fitting gods’ location in Trojan War with current lineup.

other modders might be able to accomplish your suggestion though.

Next up: Kadesh and Resheph as Bay’s and Irsu’s unique gods?

@Tater yes the startup buildings hasn't been modded yet,
it would be dealing with startpos file which could break some other mods (e.g. faction unlocker),
nonetheless its something i will look into next, both versions will be available :)

thx guys :)

After testing the mod, it seems to be working. However, the only thing "weird" that I could find is the starting Grand Temples in the cult centers are dedicated towards their vanilla god (i.e. Ashkelon begins with the Grand Temple of Yamm instead of El). Once this building is destroyed, the construction of a Grand Temple changes to what the mod allows as intended. I don't know if this is even something that can be edited. Loving the mod so far - thank you!
