Information for Travellers

The Milagro system contains thirteen small rocky worlds, and two asteroid belts.

The Milagro system lacks a Starport. Starship fuel is harvested from ice found on several of the planets.

The planet Milagro is a small, Ice capped, non-Agricultural, non-Industrial Vacuum world with no atmosphere – most sophonts require a vac suit to survive - and a tiny amount of water frozen as ice.

The planet Milagro was colonised in the 750s by Forine as a literal prison planet: a dumping ground for political and religious dissidents and the worst kinds of criminals. In 992 Forine began transporting unwanted citizens from the poorest demographics of its population.

The population reached an estimated 95,000,000 when Forine suddenly abandoned the system in 1079.

The resulting anarchy led to an estimated 5,000,000 deaths. The threat this posed to nearby systems lead the Imperium to assemble a coalition of worlds to delivered aid and to impose a Government to stabilise the situation.

The planet Milagro has a population of 90,000,000 sophonts – well beyond the capacity of the planet to support them.

The planet Milagro is a non-industrial world and is totally reliant on goods brought in by off-world traders to maintain TL-7. It is also totally reliant on off-world food shipments.

Milagro is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy that only survives due to off-world support. The Law Level is exceptionally high, but authorities can barely keep a lid on an explosion of violence.

Milagro is a problem that is proving nearly impossible to address. Due to the criminal nature of large numbers of the population no other system will allow resettlement.

The simulation is currently stable, but that might change when running the simulation forward.
