UH-50A+ "Buzzard" - ONCG #3

Description

The H-50 BUZZARD® airframe is a four-blade, twin-engine, medium-range, medium-lift utility helicopter manufactured by the Stormheed Systems. This airframe design is a spiritual successor from the H-40 Spearhawk. The Buzzard was specifically made to operate safely aboard ships, the most significant modifications are the folding main rotor and a hinged tail to reduce its footprint aboard ships.

UH-50A+ Buzzard

Designation: UH-50
Variation: Alpha (Upgraded)
Nickname: Buzzard
Role: Medium Utility Helicopter
First Flight: 8 October 2020
Introduction: 22 December 2024
Primary users: Osean National Coast Guard (ONCG)
Status: Initial Operating Capability (IOC)

The UH-50A Buzzard is the main Utility Helicopter of the Osean National Coast Guard, primarily designed to be the workhorse of air operations. With a basic crew of three, the Buzzard is capable of a wide range of missions including:

× Search and Rescue (SAR)
× Humanitarian Assistance (HA)
× Disaster Response (DR)
× Wildland Fire Suppression (WFS)
× Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP)
× Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC)

The Buzzard has proven to be a multi-faceted helicopter both in combat and peacetime missions. It functions as the premier combat utility helicopter for the Osea and other nations. Designed to be launched and recovered from ships, it can function as an organic ISR platform while increasing the search/detection range of the vessel.

With the performance success of the H-50B, the Osean National Coast Guard (ONCG) sought similar performance in the H-50A for its existing fleet without the expense of completely refurbishing the A model to the B. As a result, the Stormheed replaced the avionics package of the A model. These new avionics provide the desired increase in range and capabilities without the additional expense of the other H-50B upgrades. The Osean Defense Forces called these new more powerful UH-50A’s the UH-50A+.

As a result, the main differences in the “A+” model are:

× New radar (Range 6km) with associated electronic upgrades
× Improved fuel capacity
× Improved range and on-station time
× Additional 1500 Kg of lift on the cargo hook

Too much power on the throtle, the ideal is around 0.60 (60%) more than this is just necessary if lifting heavy cargo.

Actually no, it works with any ship with a good size landing deck. But it was heavily tested with the LCS and HMS Orion from suspicious_cat.

Is this designed for a specific ship
