Information for Travellers

The Noctocol system contains thirteen rocky worlds and two gas giants.

Noctocol is a S-Type Binary system. The planet Noctocol orbits the Primary star, and all the other planets orbit the Secondary star. It is a young system, with many planets being moons stripped from the gas giants.

Even though Noctocol sits of the Jump-1 Forine Corridor there is no Starport in the system. Starships must refuel from the gas giants.

The planet Noctocol is a Fluidic meso world with an Exotic atmosphere – most sophonts will require an oxygen mask to breathe - and a moderate amount of contaminated surface water.

The planet Noctocol is highly volcanic, with constant earthquakes and eruptions. It does possess a native biome of single-celled organisms that produce a small amount of oxygen.

The Solomani exploration starship Connemara became stranded on Noctocol in -1987. Unable to leave, the crew set up a small settlement inside a system of lava tubes. The next Solomani starship didn’t arrive until -1515 and it failed to detect the settlement.

With no signs of rescue the crew became unwilling colonists. By tapping geothermal energy and exploiting the native single-celled lifeforms, the colonists created a sustainable subterranean civilization.

In 501 a IISS survey discovered the colony. What they found was a population of millions inhabiting many different lava tubes, who had managed to retain TL-6.

Since contact the population has reached 60,000,000 and by importing small amounts of off-world technology have reached a native TL-8.

Noctocol is a Representative Democracy. Individual settlements form a constituency that in turn elects a representative to the central Government.

Noctocol is of great interest to ethnographers; due to its isolation the population represents a preserved example of Solomani culture from thousands of years ago.

The simulation is currently stable, but that might change when running the simulation forward.
