CVN-83 Ranger

Description
CVN-83 Ranger

Before the outbreak of the Sinai War, the lead ship of the Gerald R. Ford-class, the WSS Gerald R. Ford, had already exposed numerous issues during its service. With the onset of the Sinai War, the severe problems revealed by this single Ford-class vessel caused significant headaches for the White Star United States Navy and the Department of Defense. Unable to address such flaws under current manufacturing conditions, Congress halted the mass production plans for all Ford-class ships following CVN-82.

Although the development of the United States-class aircraft carriers was progressing faster than expected, the aging Nimitz-class carriers in the W.S. Navy were already showing signs of fatigue. To maintain a global strategic presence before the mass production of the United States-class, a newer and larger naval platform was needed. This necessity led to the rapid development of the "Ranger" class aircraft carriers.

The Ranger-class aircraft carrier was developed by the W.S. Navy as a significantly improved supercarrier following the Gerald R. Ford-class, addressing the inherent issues of the Ford-class. This new class was based on the Ford-class but was significantly enlarged to accommodate more equipment and aircraft. Due to these considerations, the development of the Ranger-class proceeded swiftly, with the project initiated at the beginning of the Sinai War. Before the war ended, two ships of this class began segmental construction simultaneously. Initially, the Ranger-class was planned to replace the remaining five Gerald R. Ford-class carriers on a one-to-one basis. However, due to the rapid progress of the United States-class and budget constraints, only two ships were constructed, designated as CVN-83 Ranger and CVN-84 Hornet.

The Ranger-class made the following improvements to address the issues found in the Ford-class:
- Stabilized power and transmission systems with enhanced support structures, improving transmission efficiency and reducing maintenance cycles.
- Improved electromagnetic catapult structure, design, and power systems, significantly reducing the failure rate and increasing the reliability of the electromagnetic catapults.
- Upgraded arresting systems, separating electromagnetic arresting cables from the electromagnetic catapult zones, improving reliability and recovery efficiency.
- Enhanced weapon and material handling designs, allowing for more efficient transportation and management of ammunition and logistics on the carrier, greatly improving logistical efficiency with optimized watertight compartments equipped with linear motors.
- Enlarged flight deck and hull size, enhancing ship stability and improving deck operation efficiency.
- Added MK-41 Vertical Launch System, increasing the ship's medium- and long-range defensive capabilities and enhancing its multi-purpose functions.
- Capable of carrying over 85 aircraft, including 5th gen aircraft carrier based fighter jet DOLLS and its associated ARMS, providing hangar conditions for the preservation and maintenance of stealth aircraft ARMS in maritime environments.
This includes the list of following DOLLS and their ARMS:
F-35 Lightning II,
F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
EA-18G Growler EW Fighter Jet
E-2D Hawkeye AWACS
MH-60R/S Seahawk
MV-22 Osprey
as well as support for the future non-DOLLS aircraft, next-generation combat aircraft, and their subsequent maintenance requirements.
