Welcome to GPT AI, where your Terraria adventure is enhanced with the power of an AI that does more than just follow orders—it tells your story! Ever wanted your NPCs to be more than just lifeless shopkeepers or quest givers? How about making them your companions in crafting an epic tale, one where they react, interact, and even narrate your journey through Terraria? This mod does exactly that, and much more!

At the heart of this mod is a cutting-edge GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) system. This AI isn’t just for show—it’s integrated directly into the game, giving NPCs the ability to think, respond, and even create personalized narratives based on your actions. Whether you’re taking down bosses, crafting rare items, or simply exploring new biomes, GPT AI ensures that your experiences are recorded and spun into a compelling story.

Getting Started: You will need an API key from OpenAI for this to work correctly. It will incur charges. Always keep your API key private and safely stored. Your API key is stored for the mod locally on your system via the mod's config, meaning I do not have access to it. Fill in the 'API Key' section in the config menu in tModLoader and use *enter* "/gpt" followed by your message while speaking with an NPC to activate the GPT dialogue! Many actions are not implemented yet, but following works contextually, meaning all you have to do is tell the GPT-controlled NPC to follow you, and it will! (Keep in mind, I am still trying to figure out how to get it to stop following without restarting the world)

Dynamic Story Log: Your in-game actions—like defeating bosses, discovering new areas, and completing quests—are automatically captured and transformed into a rich narrative that evolves with your journey. The GPT AI documents your adventures, weaving them into a unique tale that reflects your personal Terraria experience.

AI-Powered NPCs: Your NPCs are no longer just static characters. With GPT integration, they can engage in conversations, respond to your commands (IN-DEVELOPMENT), and even think out loud. They’ll react based on the context of the game, follow you, or take actions like attacking enemies or moving to specific locations—all controlled by the dynamic AI.

GPT Commands: Your NPC companions can now speak to you. Fill out the configuration and use the command /gpt while talking to an NPC to send it a message!

Immersive Narratives: The GPT AI doesn’t just record what you do—it adds depth to your story with detailed descriptions of the environment, mood-based narrative tones, and even the NPCs’ internal thoughts. Whether you prefer epic tales, humorous anecdotes, or something in between, the GPT AI adapts to your style.

Warning: This mod is powered by GPT—Generative Pre-trained Transformers. These AI-driven narratives might sometimes get poetic, dramatic, or even a bit quirky. But that’s what makes your story truly unique, right?
