Factional Politics

Description
Now 4.0.* Compatible

Factional Politics Mod intends to give more flavor to factions in the game and flesh out different government types with events and mechanics. The mod is in early development, so please give feedback on bugs and suggestions.

Current content:
- Special effects when a significant enough faction is satisfied or dissatisfied with the government (imported from my former mod, Loans and Debt)
- Policies that enable parliament, the length of its term, and enfranchisement options
- Parliamentary elections for democratic governments based on faction's popularity (influenced by enfranchisement) with random events during the election campaign.
- Parliament can form a government based on factions and their electoral performance. The ability for countries with shadow council civic to falsify elections and pick government regardless of votes.
- Parliament can vote on laws that the player can sign or veto. Random events focused on parliament
- Coalition governments will have to give concessions to coalition members or threaten dissolution of the coalition
- non-democratic empires can select and call estates general, in which you can select agenda to fulfil from various estates (based on your ethics and civics). Fulfilling them will give rewards, failing them will give penalties.

Planned content:
- Events to diversify ethics of large empires
- Interaction between factions and planetary rebellions

Notes:
The mod doesn't support cybernetic creed factions. Ethics and Civics Bug Branch factions can now form government (other ethics and civics mods not supported atm. Evolved factions not supported)

Compatibility:
Should be compatible with most events mods.
The mod overwrites following files:
common/pop_categories/00_pop_social_classes (this one will likely conflict with big overhaul mods like evolved so put my mod above them in mod order if you use those)

Contributions:
If you want to contribute to this mod's growth consider becoming a contributor. DM me at discord @redluce if you're interested :)

@Szybs thanks a lot I couldn't locate the issue. I will check into shipwreight agenda but i based them on pre councilor rework things so idk why it doesn't work

hi @hamhacker,

The issue with research stations agenda failing is beacuse in the file facpol_estates_general.txt there are two different variables for "counter =" it's:

counter = orbresearch_built and
counter = research_station_built

Only one should be used, so that's why the research agenda is not working properly.

But I've also found that shipwright agenda is not working, not sure why.

Seconding the below, unfortunately Estates General seems to have quite some issues with registering completed 'agendas'.

Further, unsure if at all inclined for seeking a resolution, but I have noticed a few unfortunate incompatibilities with these two mods in 'pop_categories':
Expanded Mod Base
Lithoid Supremacy

Expanded Mod Base seems to just add a script to each pop type, while Lithoid Supremacy has quite a bit more nuance being added on some pop types due to certain species traits and more (not even sure how viable compatibility would be here).

@kayindreemurr huh I will have to look into that

Estates general is bugged. I've had two agenda's fail now even though I met the conditions for them. Build 4 research stations? I built 5. Build to 75% or more naval capacity? Done, had only two naval capacity left, it lists it as conditions met, but then it fails anyways!

should add political parties that revolve around ideologies not just ethics

Does anyone know how this mod interacts with MrFunEGUY's Civil Wars mod? I'm curious because apparently this mod is compatible with Bug Branch, but Civil Wars is not (Seemingly due to the factions)

Should I place this below Bug Branch? Thanks for the awesome mod!

I can confirm that the issue still exists even after starting a new game with parliament at the start. Both 3 and 5 year term elections did not work for me.
