CSX Illinois Subdivision

Description
The Illinois Subdivision
In Real life, the Illinois Subdivision was a very prominent Mainline that connected Washington Indiana, where It met the Indiana Subdivision to then head over to Cincinnati and then the east coast, to East St. Louis. This was the Baltimore and Ohio’s mainline to St. Louis, and the shortest route between the gateway to the west and the East Coast. CSX got control of the line when the Chessie System and Seaboard System merged to create CSX. CSX started out with 2 Lines to St. Louis, the Louisville and Nashville line to the South, cut back to Okawville, Illinois in 1989 and then leased to the Evansville Western in the early 2000s, and the B&O, which was the mainline to St. Louis. Eventually with the splitting of Conrail in 1999, the St. Louis Line Subdivision was preferred as the Route to St. Louis, but the B&O Route to the South was still in use. Coal Traffic was expected to run over the route, and CSX prepared, but it never happened. Local Traffic declined, and eventually between Caseyville, Illinois, and Flora, Illinois, was one on-line customer. CSX Cut the route in July 2014, and by that time, the 25 to 30 freights running on the route was reduced to 4 Autoracks. And ever since then, the route has laid dormant. Sidings pulled up, rails rusting, and no customers showing interest in rail.

Illinois Subdivision in Rolling Line
This iteration of the Illinois Subdivision is an alternate reality in which Local traffic along the route is booming, traffic is heavy, and is even better than ever. Lots of local traffic to switch between Washington, Indiana, and East St. Louis, so get those engines fired up and ready with freights to run, or just run some high-speed intermodals on the 60 mph mainlines to get those containers to the Mississippi.

Updates List
This is a list of updates of how far the route will get:
  • Washington, Indiana to Olney, Illinois ✅
  • Olney, Illinois to Flora, Illinois
  • Flora, Illinois to Salem, Illinois
  • Salem, Illinois to Carlyle, Illinois
  • Carlyle, Illinois to Trenton, Illinois
  • Trenton, Illinois to East St. Louis

Fun Fact, unless you're someone like me who was born in the wrong era, UP 3985 went to St Louis along this line in the mid to late 1990's.

nothing much he can do for that except make the layout 54 segments, at that point it would crash you're game by being downloaded.

some facilities on the line are fictitious, but realistic.

I renember when the line was still active past flora, the last train through there was in 2017, now Flora has a Plastics service, as well as other grain silos east on the line.

I am VERY familiar with this area, as I have relatives who live in this part of the state. A shame this isn't in Train Simulator Classic, otherwise I would be playing on this route non-stop. I would love to see either this or it's next door neighbor, the L&N Henderson Subdivision, in TSC.

I even live on this line, unfortunately, it isn't active past Flora.

@wvumellosax. No, that would probably too much. This is just a singular rail line that goes through Illinois into East St. Louis.

MisterJaythegreat, if you ever need help with how to make 3D landscape, the basic thing is to make up to scale (Kilometers) in any editing programs and import the .obj as a prop.

I already got a few exemples on the workshop.

My latest that I am working on has 46+km of track length do far.
