Description
Spiff's Practical Engineered Solutions, a division of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, presents the Mole Planetary Miner mk2, a vanilla small-grid design without mods, and contains no rotors or pistons making it a perfect survival-ready solution for large mining projects. This revision of the original Mole Planetary Miner design utilizes the optimized understructure of the Mole Moon Miner mk3, with extensive rework of the power and thruster arrangements for mining projects on all planets and moons having an atmosphere.

Designed as a high-capacity vertical miner, the Mole Planetary Miner mk2 extracts ores effortlessly with its 16 optimally-spaced drills, automatically ejecting waste stone, and transports ore in 4 large cargo containers. Power is supplied by 8 large batteries and 1 large reactor. The lift capacity and power requirements are sized to handle high gravity planets such as Pertam while carrying a full ore load. A railgun has been added for defense in hostile regions. These features make the Mole Planetary Miner mk2 a perfect solution for the player who needs to get to an ore deposit, quickly extract a large quantity of ore, and get back home again in a challenging environment.

NO MODS, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTOR BUILDABLE!

NOTE: In-game scripts (in advanced settings) must be enabled for the autolevel script to function!

NOTES FOR BUILDING WITH A PROJECTOR IN SURVIVAL
(See the last two pictures for the projector's configuration.)
1. Build a rotor frame on a powered grid; remove the large-grid rotor head and replace with a small-grid rotor head and lock rotation.
2. Stack 6 armor blocks, minimum, vertically atop the small-grid rotor head to provide sufficient clearance for building the miner.
3. Build a small-grid projector on top of the topmost armor block; for consistency, rename the projector to be "MP - Projector".
4. Load the blueprint into the projector; click on the setting to retain the blueprint after construction is complete.
5. Build the blueprint.
6. When completed, grind away the small-grid rotor head, armor blocks, and rotor frame, leaving the projector in place for future repairs.

ya ok it could be a mod messing with something ro idk. i have done a integrity check on the game as i was having problems getting into a server when others was getting in just fine. so im not sure like i said its running great so ya thanks for checking it out. love ur designs i have used a few of them now

I tested this miner on Pertam in survival mode, again mining ice and filling everything (including drills) as full as possible. Even UP, LEFT/RIGHT, and FORWARD/BACKWARD at the same time never resulted in power exceeding 82%. Consider possibly that one or more batteries were in recharge mode instead of auto mode. That would be enough to mess it up.

I extensively test all my designs on all planets or moons or space (sometimes all three depending on the design) before publishing them, so I thought maybe I missed something. The only potential issue on Pertam is how sluggishly the ship operates when fully loaded. You must be careful to keep it within a hundred meters or so from the ground because the atmospheric layer attenuates very, very quickly there and you'll suddenly have no lift with the thrusters when you go too high. That said, go around mountains when fully loaded there or risk becoming a smoking hole in the ground.

OK, so I did some follow-up testing (on the Alien planet, because that's where I'm currently playing survival). I loaded the ship to the max payload my mining ice (since all ores have the same density, it's a good test). Fully loaded I hit UP, LEFT, and FORWARD to maximize thruster power usage and never exceeded 88%; I expect a higher power requirement on Pertam. I'll set up a follow-up test world for there, but I expect it's possible to exceed 95% power usage, the maximum recommended before thrusters start losing effectiveness. Personally, because of the power-to-weight ratio is much more favorable, I probably would add two or maybe four small reactors to help. Again, I'll set up a survival test world on Pertam and check it out and report back to you.

Well, I finally got my base established enough to build this miner. I didn't get any errors or warnings or anything that indicated that it couldn't be built as intended. Maybe your DLC is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled? I'd do a file integrity check with SE through Steam.

ok thank let me know. As i said tho i am using it an it seems fine runs great. only thing i can tell is going up maxes out power to i added some more batteries to it. but that could be that im on purtam an the server im on is modded
Spaceman Spiff  [author] 16 Apr @ 1:43pm
Dunno. Weird. I've built it a bunch of times in survival and never got that message. Maybe something in SE changed recently and it'll pop up a message for me. I'll build it in the current survival game I'm playing and see what happens.

i have all the DLC so im not sure what it is talking about. its weird
it works fine after building it an nothing seems to be broken or missing so im not sure what it is talking about

The build uses an industrial cockpit from the Decorative Pack DLC, and some beam blocks from the Heavy Industry DLC. With a bit of work, the ship can be modified to use a plain vanilla cockpit. The beam blocks are just decoration.

so im using this but every time i do it come up with errors says the game doesn't have so stuff that is used. trying to find out what it is as its vanilla
