The Delver

Description
This is my first mod for the ongoing agents modjam! The Delver is an adaptable agent with a penchant for the exploration of ancient ruins.
Artifacts, Madness, and Other Dangers
Wield the jank power of archaeology to enshadow and en-madden. Whenever the Delver completes an excavation, they'll obtain an Artifact and each of these will passively produce shadow when venturing into a settlement, but be careful: it'll also increase your menace!
Sharing the Gift of History
What if your bag is full of horrors beyond comprehension that you don't care to want increasing your menace? There are ways to get rid of those pesky bringers of eldritch luck! If a settlement has an infiltrated library, the Delver is able to donate three artifacts for the creation of an Archaeological Exhibit. The Exbhit will, over time, produce madness, an effect which can be empowered by further donating more!

But what if you need to empty your pockets of trinkets and bobbles and academia has denied you the luxury of five-inch glass to protect your obsession? Worry not. Find an empty spot of wilderness and throw them in a hole only you know the location of!
Depressingly Anime
Enjoy having an unnecessarily anime archaeologist running around with a sunny, can-do attitude while you doom the world. Just don't let him lose his trusty pickaxe lest he spiral into a whirlwind of depression.
Final Thoughts
Not being a coder, there'll definitely be some jank to be found, but nothing that should break anything. The pickaxe's bonus to exploration is unlisted in the UI but it is functional and moving from the Underground to the Surface with the 'Spelunker' trait will cause your moves to go into the negatives (this is purely visual and will fix itself on the start of a new turn).

Finally, thanks to the excellent community which was willing to give and endless supply of pointers I couldn't do without! I'll likely update this at some point in the future, as I'm not completely happy with it, but for now: enjoy!

After some discussion on the discord, we've figured out that the problem is with the Delver and not Living Wilds, and that it has something to do with the Devil's Luck ability.

"The Devil's Luck trait is modifying the agent's defence, but it's not doing so correctly." - guy on discord who seems to know a lot about modding

I don't know if this is fixable, or if it's too niche to be worth fixing, but the Delver seems to bug out when he becomes a werewolf (from the Living Wilds mod). He can't do any challenges at all, and doesn't get the wolf minions werewolves usually get. Also, his artifacts get reset to 0.

I was able to end the first turn for which he was a werewolf, but the end turn button became unresponsive the following turn.

I appreciate the anime tbh, also thank you for a cool new agent!

I didn't know anime was such an unthinkable, horrid boundary that you shouldn't touch (especially when the game's core art itself often flips through different styles).

If you like the mod but the portrait not being in more Western styles kills it for you, you can move the folder from the workshop into your local mod folder (data/optional data) and manually swap it out. v.v

Am I the only one who's only hesitancy about this mod is the portrait? Call me a curmudgeon, but there's some lines you just don't cross.

@Punch do you know of an anime like that? I am trying to get more genuine villain protagonist stuff.

Me having forgotten to institute a limit on artifacts watching in utter surprise as someone considers farming artifacts for unlimited defense. I am in shambles.

I love it. Getting the apparently innocent Delver who only wants to explore ruins to 5000 menace and dozens upon dozens of kills was very fun. Who knew that having 20 defense was strong?

I did not leave a comment here before, if you saw a comment before, you are wrong

What's more anime than the protagonist falling to madness in an over-the-top manner before swearing to aid the end of the world?
