Information for Travellers

The Orcrist system contains six rocky worlds and one gas giant.

The Orcrist system is a P-Type Binary. Both stars formed from the same proto-stellar cloud. All the planets orbit both stars.

The Orcrist system sits on the Sacnoth Arm, an important Jump-1 trade route.

Orcrist is a member of the Sword Worlds Confederation.

The Orcrist system has a Class B Starport that provides refined fuel harvested from the gas giant Dvergur. A Sword Worlds naval base and military base is also present in the system.

Orcrist is reliant on off-world traders bring in goods to maintain TL-10.

Orcrist is an Earth-sized Fluidic moon with an Exotic atmosphere - most sophonts will require an oxygen mask to breathe - and a moderate amount of non-water surface liquid.

The moon Orcrist is tidally locked to the gas giant Dvergur.

Many scientists hypothesis that Orcrist is an artificially body. It is the only moon of a large gas giant, and the rest of the system is lacking in moons or small bodies, suggesting these were combined to create Orcrist.

The moon Orcrist was first surveyed by the Darrians sometime in the -1000s. Sacnoth built a Starport in -208 to allow Jump-1 starships to travel the important Sacnoth Arm trade route. In time mining and other operations turned Orcrist into a fully-fledged colony.

By 200 Orcrist had become independent. It was annexed by Excalibur in 388. In 444 Orcrist came under the control of the Double Monarchy of Anduril and Narsil. After the collapse of the Double Monarchy in 604 Orcrist was administered by Narsil. In 758 Orcrist again became independent.

The moon Orcrist is a Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. Hereditary Jarls rule over a population of 40,000,000 Carls. These Jarls meet to discuss matters of mutual concern at an annual Moot.

The population of Orcrist are both insular and xenophobic. Outsiders will often be mistreated with little recourse to the authorities.

The moon Orcrist is currently undertaking a terraforming project. The hydrocarbon fluids that make up Orcrist’s oceans are being seeded with algae and bacteria to create both water and free oxygen.

The simulation is currently stable, but that might change when running the simulation forward.
