Alpha-Nine Leaders Voicepack

Description
--->THIS MOD REQUIRES ALTERNATIVE MOD LAUNCHER FOR WOTC USERS<---[github.com]

TL;DR
This mod adds my own versions of the voices for Edward Buck, Veronica Dare, and Rookie from Halo 3: ODST.

Overview
  • Buck has ~1,500 lines
  • Dare has ~700 lines
  • Rookie has ~100 lines
  • Adjustable volume via a config file
  • Cooked
  • Support for events added in Voice Patcher, get the mod >here<
  • Works with base-game and WotC, Voice Patcher only supports WotC
  • No direct references to Halo universe material
  • Radio effect applied
  • Not affected by attitudes
  • Available for soldiers and Reapers by default.
  • Voices never appear at random
  • Special variants listed below

'English Buck IWHBYD'
Rare combat dialogue becomes more common, and vice versa.
For people that play Halo, you can probably guess what this is. Reverses the lines rarity I applied when sorting them. Rare (and often funny) lines play more often, while more lore-friendly stuff is rarer. This does not apply to every single voice event, as some did not end up with any humorous dialogue in the pool.

'English Dare No AI'
Same as normal variant, but AI lines are cut out. Details further in description.

'The Rookie [Superintendent Logo]'
Same as normal Rookie, but whenever he picks up an item, he will experience the same psychic visions flashbacks he did in ODST. Definitely not lore friendly to this game.

Detailed Explanation
Releasing just in time for ODSTs 15th anniversary, it's half of Alpha-Nine. Again. Preview video was very rushed.

Lines sourced for Buck:
Edward Buck - Halo 3: ODST (310 lines)
The lines I took from this are only the ones that exist exclusively in this game, mainly mission specific dialogue and the like. Any lines he had that are shared between this and Halo 3 were instead taken from Halo 3.

Edward Buck - Halo: Reach Campaign (4 lines)
A small addition but I figured I might as well include it.

Edward Buck - Halo: Reach Firefight (330 lines)
"Other. Dudes. Severely. Terminated. Quote me." -Edward Buck

Sergeant 2 - Halo 3 (825 lines)
As said before, nearly all of the lines from this voice in Halo 3 are also used by Buck in ODST, but they have no helmet filter and thus, were cleaner. I was also able to splice some additional lines that that were absent in ODST because they originally related to Master Cheif, Arbiter, and Flood for even more line diversity.

Sergeant Reynolds - Halo 3 (77 lines)
This character is also voiced by Nathan Fillion with basically the same voice direction, so I felt a desire to include his lines. If, for some reason, you like Reynolds more than Buck, you could feasibly use this mod for him too.

Lines sourced for Dare:
Veronica Dare - Halo 3: ODST (467 lines)
Seemingly the only Halo game her VA has ever worked in.

Sonya Blade - Mortal Kombat X (156 lines)
Same VA. Voice is indistinguishable from my own perceptions. You could feasibly use this mod for a Sonya voice instead, but I'm not branding it as such since I don't play Mortal Kombat, and ODST is one of my favorite games.

AI - ElevenLabs (~100 lines)
Before people raise their pitchforks, I understand people frown upon the use of AI for various reasons. Not the least of which being that it sometimes sounds off from the original character. A variant of the voice that uses no AI dialogue is included for people to use. The reason AI was even used at all is because Dare is still missing variation for common enough events that I felt it was warranted.

Lines sourced for the Rookie:
Rookie - Halo 3: ODST (111 lines)
As you're probably aware, the Rookie is mute. He never speak actual language in ODST. He does, however, have many grunts and exertionary sounds that generally play in reaction to something that just happened. Basically, when he's shot, you hear him in pain, and when he succeeds at doing something, he will (rarely) let out a satisfied grunt. And as is listed in one of the variants, he can also experience flashbacks of New Mombasa when picking up stuff.

Fun fact:
Counting both normal and IWBYD lines, Buck has ~220 lines that can play when killing an enemy, so I sincerely doubt anyone will have any dialogue repetition in a single playthrough, even if you have multiple people with the voice.

Q&A
Will you ever do the other voices for Alpha-Nine?
In the (possibly far) future, yes. I've already started them, but I've also got other projects in the works. Mickey will also use lines from Injustice 2 Green Arrow since it's the same VA and direction.

Will you add lines from Halo 5?
If someone wants lines from Halo 5, they need to provide me with a clean source for those lines, because I've tried searching for them and could only find a video with his announcer dialogue in multiplayer with background music.

Will you create a variant that does X?
Maybe. No harm in asking.

Rookie isn't a leader.
Said no one ever. The Rookie leads by example.

He only makes a sound during a few specific actions, and it's already a low chance for him to make any sound at all during those actions. I made it this way because Rookie is rarely ever heard making any vocal sounds in his home game.

I thought of same but I tested it in the field too. Soldier says nothing.

I appreciate your work, thanks

The Rookie's voice works, it just doesn't have preview lines.

The Rookie voices are not working for me. Other two are fine.

@CRASH
MEC Titan and Toxic Heavy are from 'Spectrum: Enemies and Aegis Division'. Viper Huntress might be from the same mod, but I'm not certain. It could also be 'Children of the King 2.0'.

Love the voice mod.

What enemy mods do you have in the preview video? Specifically MEC Titan, Viper Huntress, Toxic Heavy.

I'm trying to track them down but the ADVENT Medic is the only one I found on the workshop.

God bless you for that. I hate it when the description is so short you don't know what's going on. Documentation might very well be my fetish and I just don't know it yet. Thank you again, for both the voice pack and all other effort!

Thanks. I'm aware that I tend to go overboard with the descriptions for the sake of rigorous documentation.

Subscribing just for the effort you put into the description tbh
