Information for Travellers

The Sting system contains nine rocky worlds and two gas giants.

The Sting system sits on the Trailing Worlds Corridor, an important Jump-1 trade route.

Sting is a member of the Sword Worlds Confederation.

The Sting system has a Class B Starport that provides refined fuel processed from the planet Sting’s ocean. A Sword Worlds naval base and military base is also present in the system.

Sting relies on off-world traders to bring in goods to maintain TL-10.

The planet Sting is a tidally locked, Agricultural meso world with a Thin, tainted atmosphere – most sophonts will require a respirator or oxygen mask to breathe - and a moderate amount of surface water.

The planet Sting is an old world. The planet is tidally locked to the star Bilbo. Tectonic movements of the crust have ceased, and a cooling core is shrinking the magnetic field. The land is eroding down into the shallow ocean.

The planet Sting has an atmospheric taint caused by toxic gases like chlorine. Many believe that the taint is the result of the WMDs used by Hofud during their invasion.

The planet Sting was first surveyed by the Darrians sometime in the -1000s. It was colonised sometime in the -300s by settlers from the Old Earth Union.

In 383 the planet Sting was invaded by its neighbour Hofud. The Government of Sting fled to the Biter system. After 20 years of fighting an ongoing resistance movement Hofud deported a portion of the population to other systems.

In 439 Hofud abandoned its conquest of the Sting and Biter systems, leaving both in ruins. Dyrnwyn took over the Government, setting up an Impersonal Bureaucracy to administer the planet. Overtime Dyrnwyn lost interest in its distant colony, and the Impersonal Bureaucracy become Sting’s independent Government.

The population of 70,000,000 live mostly in partly underground cities near the north pole.

There are a small number of people, descendants of those who fled into the swamps and jungles to escape the Hofud invasion, referred to as Myrfolk. Myrfolk have little to do with the main population and live a TL-2 lifestyle.

The planet Sting has rich alluvial soils. Combined with permanent sunshine it produces an abundance of agricultural products that are exported across the Sword Worlds and beyond.

The simulation is currently stable, but that might change when running the simulation forward.
