[Fictional Aircraft History]
The Polaris Industries FI-23 "Drake II" (Fighter-Interceptor Mk. 23) is a multirole light fighter aircraft built by Polaris Industries, starting in 1978, as a multirole carrier-based light fighter. The design underwent numerous upgrades throughout the years, but still remains in service today.

[Creation]
This design was heavily inspired by the L-39 Albatros, TA-4 Skyhawk, and JL-9. Built primarily as a proof-of concept for me to test out my jet design skills and as an entry into Whack AL's Carrier Plane Build Challenge. A major goal was modularity, and as such, most of the weapons are able to be removed and swapped out.


EQUIPPED WEAPONS:

1x Underbelly Gun Pod Hardpoint (Slot 1 on the Weapons Select)
- Dual Light Autocannon Gun Pod

4x Underwing Hardpoints (Slots 2-5 on the Weapons Select)
- 4x Air-to-Air Missiles [RADAR]

Chaff Countermeasures

OPERATION:

To start the aircraft, get in the Pilot Seat, enable Battery and Avionics. Brakes are recommended. Then, set throttle as desired, unfold the tail and wings, and start engines. Then, disengage brakes, and go. Catapult launch key is on the floor between the decorative petals (breakers).

Measurements are in metric.

Don't pull up too sharply on takeoff when the gunpod is mounted, especially during carrier operations, as it may smack into the ground. Land-based has proven fine, but naval-based is untested, especially considering a raised catapult.
