Information for Travellers

The Iron system contains four rocky worlds, one asteroid belt, and four gas giants.

Iron is an incredibly young system with a large, active star Catalogue Number 4335685. The system is still in the process of formation, and objects that appear on survey data may no longer exist.

The Iron system contains two super earths. Starships with M-Drive 1 are advised not to land on these planets.

The Iron system also contains a gas giant that orbits close to the star.

The Iron system is part of the Metal Worlds. These worlds are designated Reserves currently closed to exploitation. The treaties signed with the Imperium at the end of the Forth Frontier War also designates the Metal Worlds as a demilitarised zone.

Iron is a member of the Sword Worlds Confederation.

The Iron system has no Starport. Starships must harvest fuel from the gas giants or from the planet Iron’s ocean.

The planet Iron is a Barren, volcanic meso world with a Very thin, tainted atmosphere – most sophonts will require a respirator or a oxygen mask to breathe - and a world ocean of surface water.

The planet Iron has no land-based lifeforms, but the ocean is full of photosynthesising single celled organisms. As a result, the atmosphere contains a higher than usual percentage of oxygen.

The planet Iron is a young water world, with the only land being a smattering of volcanic islands. These emit toxic gases that taint the atmosphere.

The planet is orbited closely by the large moon Rust, causing massive tides. This makes a permanent settlement of the planet unfeasible.

The planet Iron was first surveyed by the Darrians sometime in the -1000s. It was claimed by Steel in 256 but never colonised.

The Iron system sits on the border with the Third Imperium. Sword Worlds naval starships based in Biter regularly patrol the system. IISS starships also occasionally visit the system.

The Iron system has no Government and no laws as there is no population beyond the crews of starships passing through.

Iron has TL-0.
