Description
Frontlines is a weapon project inspired by Battlefield 1, essentially seeking to bring a style of arcadey early 1900s weaponry to the workshop. It also serves as a way for me to improve on modeling weapons and, for the first time ever, animating them myself.

Update: The Garret-Aavikstrom is under the Support tab, similar to the Garret-1919.

I'm tired, Hit-

This mod contains variants for previously released mods, in the form of the Garret-Aavikstrom, Avans-28, and Rasendjager.

The Garret-Aavikstrom is an experimental LMG in a higher velocity 7mm round than the Garret-1919's 7.62mm, featuring a 30 round drum magazine, bipod, new sights, and different furniture to the stock variant. It boasts a higher fire rate and lower recoil, to boot. However, it deals lower damage than its counterpart, and cannot suppress its enemies with near-misses.

The Avans-28 was an earlier version of the Shtorm-28, chambered in a weaker 7.63mm round and having slightly larger 30 round magazines. Why use it, then? Oh, maybe the doubled fire rate might convince you. It's almost akin to the Rother-Halt Auto, but it fires even faster. This prototype was rejected due to poor range and absolutely wasting ammo, leading to the Shtorm-28.

The Rasendjager is a higher-power 9mm version of the commercial Mauschenjager, designed for more prominent threats than large rodents or the homeless. It also features a scope for longer-distance shooting of these threats, but has notably more kick than the Mauschenjager and a smaller magazine capacity.

Historical Section:

The Garret-Aavikstrom is based on like, 6 different things. Like the Garret-1919, the base is the Garand Model 1919 automatic rifle, but this has the wooden furniture of the Garand 1924, a drum magazine of the Farquhar-Hill, the .276 Pedersen round that it was never designed around, and a bipod I based on the BAR's, plus sights inspired by the M1 Garand or M14, forgot which. Absolutely none of these components were ever combined, it is total fiction.

The Avans-28 is weird. It's still based on the PPT-28 / Tokarev 1928 SMG, but there's a lot of conflicting info on it. To the best of my knowledge, the PPT-28 that Shtorm is based on represents what I believe is a later prototype of the PPT-28, while the Avans reflects what may have been an earlier prototype. Supposedly the 7.62 Tokarev version (Shtorm) had a fire rate of 600-900 RPM, while a 7.63 Mauser version had a higher fire rate; I've seen up to 1,000 RPM stated. Avans has 1,200 for gameplay reasons (the funny), and the model is based what I think is one of the earlier versions is, but slightly shortened. Magazine capacity is also off I think but I forgot. To add further confusion, 7.63 Mauser and 7.62 Tokarev are the exact same size so it's very possible both are the exact same and random people lied on the internet. Either way, I made Avans-28 for gameplay.

Rasendjager is the Dreyse light carbine in 9x25 Mauser Export with a scope that I modified out of a Swaney scope. The Dreyse carbine obviously was never chambered in 9x25 Mauser Export and never had such a scope. This is fiction as a result.

Awesome project!

Understood, thanks. I've definitely thought that about every aspect of potential expansion, including skins too. Like they'd look kitbashed out of standard equipment, random prototype stuff, etc. Can't really visualize that over text but if I do make a tank you'll prolly see what I mean, and hopefully it'd be akin to what you want.

A part of me would hope if you pursue vehicles that they definitely fit in the quasi-realistic world and that you kinda keep them stylized the same way you have with the guns. I kinda like the kitbash ww1 style

Oh and as for not zeppelin aircraft I'm still ass at modeling those so no guarantees.

I've debated it, right now I'm not super interested in making vehicles and making irl vehicles kinda drains me, at least if I'm going for any sort of accuracy. If I model them in a "quasi-accurate" style like I do these guns I'll probably be fine, though.
In particular, I've debated essentially remaking my damn *ancient* Zeppelin pack for fun BF1 Behemoth-esque shenanigans, alongside a few ground vehicles and perhaps ships for similar purposes.
As for more normal classes of vehicles, I probably could, but I'd likely want to wait until I also make some AT weaponry. If I'm ever feeling in a "I want to make an AT weapon" mood, rest assured it would be released around the same time as tanks.

Will frontlines get its own vehicles at some point?

In the weapons switch menu, can you please add a folder for all the Frontlines weapons? I really do want to try these out, but I hate having to sift through all the other weapon mods just to find the ones I want for my loadout
