Description
HSP - Drycha in the Forest of Gloom is a lua script start position mod which moves Drycha and her faction (the Wargrove of Woe) from Gryphon Wood in the Empire to the Forest of Gloom, on the junction of the Black Mountains and the World's Edge Mountains.

This mod was developed alongside HSP - Gelt in the Empire and HSP - The Changeling in Cathay to offer a less chaotic experience while playing a faction in the Empire, while offering a new starting location for Drycha.

The previous iteration of this mod moved her to the Southlands. With the arrival of Wurrzag to the Southlands with 6.0, that area became too crowded for Drycha, prompting the move to her new start position.

Here are the main changes of this mod:

- Drycha starts with the same army and buildings she originally started with in Gryphon Wood in Black Water and the Forest of Gloom respectively;
- Clan Kreepus, Drycha's initial enemy, starts in control of Karag Dromar, while Ostermark gained control of Mordheim and is no longer at war with Drycha;
- Drycha received a diplomatic relations increase with Vlad von Carstein;
- Gryphon Wood was given to the Greenskin minor faction Creeping Death, now at war with Ostermark;
- when controlled by the AI, Drycha also starts at war with Barak Varr, to speed up her otherwise limited early expansion.

My campaign tests have shown that Ostermark became a much sturdier buffer state for all of the surrounding Legendary Lords (Katarin, Azhag, Ungrim, Vlad, and Gelt if using my corresponding start position mod), as well as a longer surviving elector state for Karl Franz.

Most often, Ostermark will get destroyed by Azhag, thus presenting a new, built-up threat for the Empire, which will present itself usually between turns 10 and 20, or Ostermark will remain a stable elector state if Azhag becomes engulfed in a war with Ungrim. In over 10 campaign tests, Vlad rarely ventured into Ostermark early on - he usually goes west, and likes to target the Golden Order if Gelt starts in Talabecland (through the aforementioned mod).

I recommend using this mod alongside other Herald's Start Positions mods, and my other mods, as they are all being developed in conjunction.

I especially recommend this mod if you intend to play as Katarin or Karl Franz, or Balthasar Gelt if you're using Herald's Start Positions - Gelt in the Empire.

This mod is fully compatible with Mixu's Unlocker and Immortal Empires Expanded. It was not developed keeping any new faction mods in mind.

Herald's Start Positions mod series should work with mods like SFO: Grimhammer III, which rebalance different aspects of the game, but generally do not touch the start positions of the factions.

Credits go to Porkenstein and Swissbob for the script framework which I'm using across my start position lua script mods, and to nopeace.net for the map I used to show the territorial changes in the Southlands.

@Pants Fixed for this start position mod specifically, but I will need to update all of my start position mods for this not to be happening anymore. That will be done when patch 6.2 drops, as I will need to open every one of my mods then in any case.

Thank you very much for reporting this and for the kind words.

In case anyone's wondering, the issue was caused by a faction string parameter being used instead of a faction script interface for the reset_shroud command, causing the game to reset the shroud for all the factions in the game, instead of just for the intended faction.

For some reason while playing as Franz this mod causes the empire to no longer to be visible to him. would you ever plan on "fixing" this or is there even a way to do so? great mod btw exactly what i was looking for

@Herald of The End Times
Swissbob's True World mod does that, I'm sadly not interested in making such a change with my mods, as each of them needs to be maintained as updates come to the game.

Can you move Skarbrand to Southern Waste ?

@Rein Ostankya in Gryphon Wood creates the problem of needing to destroy her for Imperial Authority, if playing as an Imperial faction. Drycha tries to befriend you as an Imperial faction often as well. If Ostankya works well for you there, that's cool.

As for Drycha in Cathay, I expect changes in that part of the world with the inevitable Cathay/Monkey King DLC once it comes around.

Thank you for the comment!

The best changeup I have tried is moving Drycha to the Cathay forest since that minor faction has zero relevance and Putting Ostankya into Gryphon wood. Places her closer to Kislev but also means a friendly major faction now helps tie down Azhag / Vlad for awhile before eventually getting Destroyed. As for Drycha in Cathay - either gets into a death match with Nakai or lives long enough to annoy AI Lohkir whom steamrolls north east Cathay currently.
