HIMS Ascendant Vigilance

Entering service alongside the new G-Class destroyers, the A-Class is an unconventional type of vessel classed as a "Scout Destroyer". Much of the ship's midsection is taken up by the hangar, catapults and recovery cranes for a pair of floatplane fighters, intended to fly ahead of the fleet and locate enemy forces or intercept hostile aircraft attempting the same. Whilst this leaves the class with only a modest armament, the information and utility gained by the air group's inclusion is considered a worthy trade, and they are not defenceless either. With six torpedo tubes and four guns of a heavy six inch calibre they pose a credible threat to vessels of most sizes, backed up by the rest of their flotilla which is never far behind.
