Description
Description
The Messenger-class is one of the lightest warships of the Montrian Sovereign Navy. They fulfill the role of a small escort and reconnaissance ship, when the Runner-class becomes inferior or ineffective.
The Messenger sports an enclosed gundeck and large armament for such small hull being both its blessing and a curse. Due to the raised freeboard the ship is more seaworthy than the Runner, albeit being less stable on the waves. The Snow rigging allows them to be very maneuverable and armament allows them to fight the Colefordian Joaron-class schooners one on one. The Messenger-class was designed after the Wanderer but at much smaller scale.
With their primary task being the escort and reconnaissance, they are largely vulnerable alone and facing a somewhat bigger opponent. These ships are also known to be especially frail and sink easily, and in unskilled hands become even weaker due to the nature of the ship to roll and list over when heading crosswind and sharper.
But with the skilled captain the ship can perform no worse than the Joarons and be effective both as escort and a duelant.

Multiplayer optimisation.

Operation
Sailing
Find a handle in front of the tiller, controls are labelled.

Firing
Find a handle of either ship's broadsides.
Press 1 and wait for guns to roll out.

Notes
Due to the ship being so small, it's more unstable than other ships, and requires some skill to operate effectively.
Lacks the rigging for optimisation sake.
Recommended to play at low physics settings to avoid issues.
REQUIRES INFINITE ELECTRIC AND AMMO
USE A MODDED WORKBENCH OR MISSION EDITOR TO SPAWN

ah ok, thanks for explaining this to me. I actually prefer these sails than the new update ones, as the they are easier to use in game.

Even if these aren't getting updated with the Stormworks sails, i still made them behave as if they were actually sails, just a bit more arcadey

That's how wind direction works. if there's no wind the masts can't tell where's the wind and which way to turn. If that happens, there's not enough wind for propulsion. OR, you're sailing upwind, and you're constantly changing tacks even if you couldn't tell. And you are NOT supposed to sail in rough seas with full sails, but it works ONLY when the wind is above 70% and you're sailing at full sails: IRL you would've lost your masts as well.

Other than that I am in love with this ship and the uh, other one of this size, cant remember the name of the top of my head, they are great! gonna see if my friend and i can battle it out with them.

I found a slight problem, the sails appear to cycle, moving left and right constantly, even when theirs no wind direction change. its probably just a small fix, but at the moment if the sea is even just a little bit rough, the masts will snap.
