Midgame Prototech

Description
Prototech Blocks Use Standard Components
This mod opens Prototech blocks up to the midgame and eliminates the requirement to go salvage the blocks. If you want access to the blocks in the midgame without having to go raid Factorum bases and whatnot, then you may like this. If you want to experience the prototech-driven game loop, you probably don't want to use this.

This mod includes all the prototech blocks (both large-grid and small-grid)

Features
  • Prototech blocks retain their original performance and capability.
  • Component requirements are increased to roughly 3-4x of the non-prototech versions.
  • Explosives added as build components of every block.
    • Keen's intent with prototech components is to create additional demand for magnesium. To preserve that element, each block requires explosive components that consume the same amount of magnesium as the original prototech materials.
  • Prototech assembler now makes the same things the regular assembler can.
    • Prototech components are no longer required for crafting anything and cannot themselves be crafted. But, they remain in the game as collectibles. Perhaps they can serve as a secondary currency among players.
  • These blocks replace the vanilla versions. If you take a blueprint to another game, the blocks will revert to the original prototech versions, preventing gaps in your grid.

Dude... Why would you do this?
  1. Someone was bound to do this eventually -- it might as well be me.
  2. This mod brings prototech blocks to the midgame, allowing players to access and use them earlier.
    • In the vanilla game, prototech blocks are endgame items, requiring players to be fully geared up to raid and capture them. By the time you can get them, you don't really need them.
    • The vanilla design encourages a salvage-and-merge play style, which isn't for everyone.
    • This mod offers a more accessible way to include these blocks in a game.
  3. Plus, it was terribly easy to do, and I had a bit of free time.
