To prevent anybody from seeing the spikes around its head, which would reveal that it's actually a projectile spammer, it hides them behind its wings. Anybody trying to take a look will get blinded by the light reflecting off of them. But of course, there's no real use in trying to hide it since I literally told you that it's a projectile spammer.
