Advanced Tornado

Description
An Advanced Tornado simulation. Thanks to Cheejins and Daniel W with a little touch of Tuxedo Studios for the original framework and mod this was inspired and constructed off.

I'd also like to thank my friends whom helped me with development of this mod, primarily the SFX, Those people are :
astralplains & fortyfourslab
This released on my birthday lol

This mod serves as the spiritual successor to Vortexes & Tornadoes.
If you notice any issues, please tell me about any errors and bugs.

If you comment and complain about performance and don't read the description and just add nothing but "I have a bad pc" I might just end up blocking you. It runs completely fine for me and my friends and everyone I know and it runs better and is more optimized than Vortexes & Tornadoes.

Information

To spawn the tornado you can either use the "Tornado Controller" tool / use the menu "Spawn." button.
You can also despawn it pressing the "Despawn" button or pressing K in more laggy emergency scenarios.

To direct the tornado using the Tornado Controller both the free-roam and follow mode need disabled.

to open the menu, you must press " L ". If you want to change the bind you click on the " L " button and input a new key.

You can change the width of the tornado using the min/max radius and pull radius sliders, these adjust the Radius Of Max Winds (also the funnel) and the Windfield.

Swath is the swirling mist / dirt around the tornado. It's dirt colored if DirtCloud is enabled.
TorEffect is the windfield effects.
Shake is screenshake.
Lights reveal the tornado's target.
Weather makes it a dark rainy eerie night.
Scouring paints the ground with mud relative to tornadic winds.
Lightning causes lightning bolts to occasionally strike, these can cause fires and injuries. Their frequency is off the tornado strength.

The Debris Weight slider makes objects heavier or lighter, lower for lighter, higher for heavier.
The Bolt Chance slider makes lightning more frequent, higher means higher frequency. You need lightning toggled on.
The Simulation Quality slider makes the simulation quality lower/higher at the benefit / cost of FPS, it starts at max.
The Cone Influence slider dictates how much the tornado "cones" out, the windfield expands relative to the RMW
The Funnel Height slider dictates how much the funnel condensates off the ground
The Subvort Radius slider dictates how far the vorts rotate around the tornado, from the Min Radius to the Max Radius
The Subvort Size slider dictates how large the vorts are within the tornado, relative in size to the tornado.

Note : Forward speed and Tornado Strength are in MPH and forward speed stacks onto / takes from the tornado's intensity if the rotation is going with/against the movement (Leading and trailing edge dynamics, one side of the tornado is stronger.)

Add the Forward Speed to the Tornado Strength for the Right Edge (The leading edge)'s intensity
Subtract Forward Speed from Tornado Strength for the Left Edge (The trailing edge)'s intensity
(This is relative to the tornado/vortex motion and applies to the subvortices which travel at the speed of the tornadic winds they're embedded in.)

Everything else should be self explanatory, especially with experimentation.

Features.

  • Realistic windfield dynamics using the Rankine Vortex model. So yes, there's an eye in the tornado.
  • Unrestricted and realistically handled subvortices based off the tornado and the vortex settings
  • Tornado destruction is realistically handled as much as I could get it to be, especially since weight matters now.
  • Tornado visuals are practically top of the line that you can feasibly achieve within Teardown.
  • Realistic tornado SFX, no seriously! That's what they sound like.
  • Ground scouring that paints mud over everything in violent winds, dependent on windspeed.
  • Tornado windfield effects based off carefully studied footage of tornado impacts and intercepts to deliver a immersive experience.
  • HEAVILY Optimized experience, I don't think I could make it any less laggy since the heaviest calculations are just math.
  • Made using recent API and with the intent for compatibility and future proofing, you're a modder and want to make a compatible mod? Contact me on discord (it's in my steam name!)

Experiencing lag? Try turning off ground scouring and turning the sim quality down a little perhaps play with a debris manager! There's a lot of flying parts, any decent computer should be able to more or less run this properly.

Known bugs
  • Currently no known issues.

Possible Future Plans. (No Promises)
  • Horizontal Vortices
  • Tornado Lifecycle
  • Rope Sliders
  • Firenado mode?
  • Separate Weather mod.
  • More SFX?
  • Bug fixes (if any are found)
  • Remind people that F6 / EF6 is impossible and never will happen.
  • Remind people that tornado strength doesn't equal size.

i mod wiped the shit out of my teardown (i deleted literally every mod) so possibly not, ig the dirt's a replacement, so yeah cool mod

That's strange, I'd probably want more information about it since I nor anyone I know has also encountered that, potentially there's a conflicting mod??

very cool and awesome mod but one problem is that where i spawn a tornado the cloud thingy that makes the form of a tornado(i have no idea if it even has a name), isn't there.

dude this sucks, i have a $2,000 graphics card and i still get 15 fps.
