Description
Cankerworm Space Miner is a relatively compact, relatively-low PCU, large-grid vanilla space mining ship design without mods, and contains no rotors or pistons making it a perfect survival-ready solution for relatively large-scale, early game mining projects. The compact profile of Cankerworm Space Miner allows it to pass through the 10-meter high opening provided by vanilla airtight hangar doors. With the exception of a small amount of silver and gold used for the gravity components in the gravity generator, all remaining components can be built using a basic assembler from ores refined in a basic refinery; the gravity generator isn't a required component for the miner to operate, but helps clear waste stone away from the ship when mining. Tunneling with Cankerworm Space Miner produces a nearly square opening approximately 18m × 18m.

Cankerworm Space Miner extracts ores quickly with its 5 drills, automatically ejecting waste stone, and transports ore in 15 small cargo containers, the connector, cockpit, and five drills. Power is supplied by 4 batteries, and hydrogen gas is generated by 2 O2/H2 generators feeding 7 small hydrogen tanks.

NO MODS, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTOR BUILDABLE!

NOTES FOR BUILDING WITH A PROJECTOR IN SURVIVAL
(See the last two pictures for the projector's configuration.)
1. Place 1 armor block, minimum, on a powered grid to provide sufficient clearance for building the miner.
2. Build a large-grid projector on top of the armor block; for consistency, rename the projector to be "CSM - Projector".
3. Load the blueprint into the projector; click on the setting to retain the blueprint after construction is complete.
4. Build the blueprint.
5. When completed, grind away the armor block(s), leaving the projector in place for future repairs.

I'm absolutely heartbroken that this didn't meet your high expectations. I'm going to find a safe place now so I can cry.

This does not work, you need a roll cage, or people will break components while digging. Also, it is very big, if you are going to make a miner this big you should add a jumpy. Look at my workshop for examples. I copied Frosty, look at Frosty's as well.
