Challenger 2 "Black Night"

The Challenger 2 (FV4034) is a British Main Battle Tank that entered service in 1998. It was the successor to the Challenger 1 and is armed with a 120mm rifled cannon, a rare sight on modern tanks. The only other notable tank using a rifled cannon is the Indian Arjun which uses a native design. It is protected by Chobham armour and is in service with the United Kingom, Ukraine and Oman. Three have been lost in combat: one from another Challenger in Basra and two others in Ukraine (one in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive and one in Kursk).
In 2018, BAE Systems showcased the Challenger 2 "Black Night" (this model). Among other notable upgrades was the addition of the Iron Fist APS and a laser warning system.
